Well, today is my birthday! At first, I wasn’t sure what to write about in celebration. Then, I started thinking about the television episodes that centered around someone’s birthday, and I thought it would be the perfect subject! So, I bring you part 1 of my favorite birthday-themed tv episodes! I hope you enjoy and let me know which episodes would make your list!
American Dad! – Great Space Roaster

In this classic example of “be careful what you wish for,” Roger (Seth MacFarlane) asks the Smiths to roast him for his birthday. Unfortunately, he takes their roasts to heart and vows to take revenge on all of them. This episode was such a blast from beginning to end. It was my introduction to Ace Of Base and we’re treated with a hilarious Alien parody. Roger’s antics are always greatly insane and so enjoyable to watch.
Workaholics – Old Man Ders

Unable to face the fact that he’s getting older, Anders (Anders Holm) spends his birthday at a children’s entertainment center. I’m sure everyone has gone through the crisis of growing up on their birthdays. This episode was a perfect example of how NOT to handle it. In superb Workaholics fashion, the trio do whippets, steal a car, and bring strippers to a kid’s birthday party. The whole situation is messed up but I love every minute of it!
Modern Family – Fizbo

As the family goes to extravagant lengths to celebrate Luke’s (Nolan Gould) birthday, a chain of events lead to disastrous results. This was a great episode where you guess when and how everything goes wrong. It’s so funny and put together so well. My absolute favorite moment was when Cam (Eric Stonestreet) stood up for Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) in his full clown ensemble.
South Park – You’re Getting Old

After Stan (Trey Parker) turns 10, he starts to realize everything around him is changing and the things he used to love are suddenly terrible. This was probably the first South Park that made me emotional. Sure, it has its usual buffoonery, but the message lying underneath and the dark realities were certainly not what I expected.
Bob’s Burgers – Eat, Spray, Linda

Down in the dumps on her birthday, Linda (John Roberts) finds new obstacles while trying to get home after leaving her keys in her car. I’d originally skip this episode when I watched Bob’s Burgers but over time, I’ve come to really enjoy it. A day that Linda was dreading turned into a thrilling adventure, and while Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) was looking for her, he learned new things about her and found new appreciation for her. It was an overall touching episode that shows no matter how old you get, you’re never too old for new adventures.
