I’m back with part 3 of the most loyal friends in the horror genre! These friends have proven themselves through their selflessness, sacrifices, and overall loyalty. If you enjoy this post, be sure to check out the Loyal Friends Collection. I hope you enjoy and let me know which friends you feel deserve a spot in this series! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
Tony – So I Married An Axe Murderer

Tony (Anthony LaPaglia) was a cop who dreamed of the life officers lived on tv and in movies. His job didn’t turn out how he wanted it to, until he caught the perfect case. When his best friend, Charlie (Mike Myers) suspected that the love of his life was a serial killer, Tony originally believed his suspicions were due to his fear of commitment. Once he actually did a little police work, Tony realized Charlie was right to be worried. With Charlie on his honeymoon, Tony had no way of getting in touch with him to warn him. Tony stopped at nothing to reach him, even going to far as to fly in a sketchy plane with an even sketchier pilot. He definitely wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, but he was a great friend to Charlie.
Stu – Scream

Even if you’re a bloodthirsty psychopath, doesn’t mean you can’t be a good friend. That was definitely the case for Stu (Matthew Lillard), Billy Loomis’ (Skeet Ulrich) second-in-command. When Billy’s girlfriend, Sidney (Neve Campbell) realized the killers were Billy and Stu, Billy shared that his motivation was revenge against Sidney’s mother for having an affair with his father. So, what was Stu’s motivation for this killing spree? According to him, it was peer pressure. Now, that reason could be a flat out lie, but Stu’s shown his dedication to these murders, killing his own girlfriend in the process.
Kia – Freddy vs. Jason

Kia Waterson (Kelly Rowland) was a high school student who was thrown in the middle of a battle between serial killers, Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) and Jason Voorhees (Ken Kirzinger) along with her fiends. Kia made it in this series for me due to a single moment. When final girl, Lori (Monica Keena) and her boyfriend, Will (Jason Ritter) were cornered by Freddy, Kia, without hesitation, drew Freddy’s attention to her so they could get away. She kept Freddy distracted and it would’ve left plenty of time for Lori and Will to escape before she died. Although I don’t approve of the slur she used, it was still a very admirable sacrifice that stuck with me.
Tucker – Tucker and Dale vs. Evil

Tucker (Alan Tudyk) and Dale (Tyler Labine) were long-time friends who bought a cabin in the woods to fix up and use as a summer home. When they ran into a group of college students, they soon found themselves in a predicament when the college students started dying on their property, and the duo started getting the blame. Tucker proved how good of a friend he was by constantly encouraging Dale to have confidence in himself and ask the girl of his dreams out. After chaos and hilarity ensue, Tucker found himself injured in a car accident. Even when he was in a lot of pain, he still pushed Dale to leave him behind and rescue the damsel in distress. Not to mention when Dale’s dog was in danger, Tucker selflessly risked his life to save him.
The Losers Club – IT (2017)

I couldn’t make a series about friends and NOT include the Loser’s Club. Other than the killer clown, the film was completely centered around the bond of this young group of kids. Everyone was dealing with their fears and their struggles of everyday life. They confided in each other and soon realized they had a common enemy: Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård). They fought each other, they mocked each other, but they stuck together through Pennywise’s reign. Even when they were given the choice to leave one of their own behind in order to save themselves, they decided to stick together and fought Pennywise, causing him to crawl away in cowardice.
