‘Friends’ Characters I Wish Were In More Than One Episode – Part 1

Friends had some fantastic moments and wonderful characters. Lately, I started thinking about the side characters who left their marks on the show with just a single episode. These are the characters who I wish got more screen-time on the show for one reason or another. I hope you enjoy and let me know who you wish appeared in more than one episode!

Joseph and Gloria Tribbiani – The One With The Boobies

In this episode, Joey’s (Matt LeBlanc) dad, Joseph (Robert Costanzo) visited him and he found out that he’s having an affair. After he forced his dad to confess, his mom, Gloria (Brenda Vaccaro) came by and told him that she not only knew about the affair, but their marriage was actually better because of it. I really wish that we got to see more of Joey’s parents. We only got to see them in one episode and they didn’t even interact with each other. Later, there was a whole episode where Joey wanted to invite them to Monica (Courteney Cox) and Chandler’s (Matthew Perry) wedding, I really wish we got to actually see them at the wedding!

Paula – The One With The Thumb

Paula (Jenifer Lewis) was Monica’s co-worker who Monica went to for relationship and friendship advice. I really love her personality and how helpful she was with Monica’s problems. She was straight with Monica and she was overall a blast to watch. I would’ve loved to see more conversations between them before Monica was fired. Honestly, if the show ever added a seventh main character, she’d be one of my top choices!

Frank Buffay – The One With Joey’s Bag

We’ve been given plenty of episodes focused on Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) finding her father. After losing her Grandmother, her father, Frank (Bob Balaban) showed up to the funeral to everyone’s surprise. We only get one scene where Phoebe and Frank talked about why he left and it seemed like the start to a second chance for them to have a relationship. Then he’s never seen or mentioned again! All that buildup just for one scene.

Ned Morse – The One With Joey’s Award

Ned (Vince Vieluf) was a cunning student who made Ross (David Schwimmer) believe that he was failing his class because he was in love with him. Ok, here me out: I feel like we could’ve gotten a Clueless-like running gag, where Ned would just give Ross the most insane excuses about why he’s failing and Ross would just be so sick of it. It might’ve been run down, but I think it had potential.
