My Favorite Thanksgiving-Themed TV Episodes – Part 1

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it! I’ll admit, it’s not my favorite holiday. However, some of my favorite tv shows have brought some unforgettable episodes centered around family and lots of food. Today, I wanted to share part 1 of my favorite Thanksgiving tv episodes! I hope you enjoy and let me know your favorites! (POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!)

Dark Meet – The King Of Queens

Unable to recall who said “I love you” first, Doug (Kevin James) and Carrie (Leah Remini) reminisce about their first Thanksgiving together, which was also when Doug met Arthur (Jerry Stiller) for the first time. Meeting your loved one’s parents can be a real awkward time. That was brought to us ten-fold here. One of the best things about this episode is the wonderful guest star, Florence Henderson! She perfectly matched Jerry Stiller’s craziness and was a hilarious addition. It was one of the best and most awkward Thanksgiving dinners I’ve seen in a tv show!

The One With The Late Thanksgiving – Friends

After convincing Monica (Courteney Cox) and Chandler (Matthew Perry) to host Thanksgiving, the rest of the group became preoccupied with their own things and ended up an hour late for dinner. This episode has one of my favorite character development moments in the entire show. Chandler started the show completely resentful of the Thanksgiving holiday. Here, he was not only voluntarily helping Monica in the kitchen, he was happy to do it! From the hallway banter to the overall destruction of the food, the whole episode had some hilarious and unforgettable moments. Plus, it had the perfect ending!

No Fat – Everybody Loves Raymond

After alarming health results, Marie (Doris Roberts) vowed to eat healthier, and her diet plans affected the Thanksgiving feast. This is probably one of my favorite Marie episodes. There wasn’t any passive aggressive intent with her this time. She wanted to genuinely be healthy for herself and for her family… even though it didn’t last for very long. I love how Debra (Patricia Heaton) was by her side the entire time when everyone else barely tried. It was a moment of genuine bonding, which makes for a fantastic Thanksgiving episode!

There Will Be Bad Blood – American Dad!

In an effort to teach Steve (Scott Grimes) to be more appreciative, Stan (Seth MacFarlane) arranged Thanksgiving to be at his half-brother’s place, but he was shocked when he found out his half-brother was extremely rich. I got to say, some of my favorite American Dad! moments are when Stan gets very humbled. This was an exceptionally satisfying time, considering how ignorant and racist he was in this episode. The Smiths were very typical in trying to get what they didn’t deserve. In the end, they didn’t get what they wanted, but they got what they really needed.

Winner Winner Turkey Dinner – Modern Family

For the first time in Thanksgiving history, Jay (Ed O’Neill) was proud of the entire family’s recent accomplishments. Soon, confessions came to light and the entire family found out congratulations were unwarranted. Seeing how each family member conned their way to victory (whether intentional or not) was so entertaining. Then it all comes crashing down in the best way possible. For one family member to accomplish their goal honestly was a superb way to end this episode!
