I know October is a long way away, but I wanted to revisit The Simpsons’ Treehouse Of Horror episodes and rank the segments in episode II! The Simpsons has some of the funniest and memorable Halloween episodes and horror parodies. I made my ranking choices based on creativity, jokes impact, and overall memorability. I hope you enjoy and let me know which segment you love the most!
3. If Homer Only Had A Brain

Tired of incompetent workers in his factory, Mr. Burns (Harry Shearer) set out to create the perfect robotic employee. After firing Homer (Dan Castellaneta), Burns took his brain and put it in the robot with some disasterous results. I love the grave robbing/Frankenstein aspect of the segment. It definitely had its funny moments, but it’s still dead last because it lacked overall impact for me. However, it was really great how Burns wanted a stellar employee and he thought the best way to do that would be to steal the brain of his laziest worker.
Favorite Moment: When Burns tried running away from the falling robot, but he wasn’t nearly fast enough.
2. Think Happy Thoughts

After developing the ability to turn everything and everyone into anything he wanted, Bart (Nancy Cartwright) held the town hostage and forced them to do his bidding and constantly think happy thoughts. Now, when I first saw this episode, I had trouble understanding how it was a nightmare for Bart, considering he got his every wish. But the ending was absolutely brilliant when we realized that his true nightmare was bonding with his dad. I love how the episode parodies the segment in Twilight Zone: The Movie. This segment was overall funny and unforgettable!
Favorite Moment: When Homer tried tucking Bart in with no arms.
1. The Monkey’s Paw

While on a trip in Morocco, Homer bought a mysterious monkey’s paw that granted 4 wishes. The Simpsons soon found out that each wish came with dire consequences. I love how meta the episode became after Bart wished for the Simpsons to be rich and famous, and how they took jabs at real complaints by audiences. This is my favorite segment in the episode because I love the overall legend of the monkey’s paw and any form of the story always points from me. I also thought it was perfect that Flanders (Harry Shearer) didn’t seem to have any consequences with his wishes, which really stuck it to Homer.
Favorite Moment: When Moe (Hank Azaria) chased the aliens away with a board with a nail in it.
