I’m back with part 2 of the craziest horror movie mothers! These mothers have left an impact in the horror genre with their insane and unforgettable performances. They either abuse their own kids, raise absolute monsters, kill for the sake of their family, or all of the above. I hope you enjoy and let me know which horror movie mothers you feel earned their place in this series! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
Julia Cotton – Hellraiser (1987)

I know it’s debatable to put Julia (Clare Higgins) in this series considering she’s Kirsty’s (Ashley Laurence) stepmother, but I feel she should be included. As Julia was engaged to Larry Cotton (Andrew Robinson), she began a hot and steamy affair with his brother, Frank (Sean Chapman). After Frank was pulled into an underworld filled with relentless torture, Larry and Julia moved into the house where he was squatting. A few drops of blood spilled onto the attic floor ended up bringing Frank back to life and when Julia found him, he told her he needed more blood to be completely rejuvenated. Still in love with Frank, she killed multiple men to help him and even let him rip her husband’s skin off and wear it to hide. She would’ve killed Kirsty too, but Frank stabbed Julia and betrayed her. She was an insane killer driven by what she thought was love.
Beverly Sutphin – Serial Mom

Beverly Sutphin (Kathleen Turner) was a seemingly typical housewife whose main focus was raising her children, keeping a neat household, and being an upstanding member of society. The only problem is if someone insults her family or goes against her standards of societal norms, she will make their lives a living hell. She was the very definition of manipulative and psychotic. She was pen pals with some of the most notorious serial killers, and she believed she was making the world a better place by brutally killing those who crossed her path. The craziest thing is she actually got away with it. During her trial, she was able to fool the jury and if she didn’t kill one of the jurors for wearing white after Labor Day, no one would’ve realized the truth about her.
Grace Stewart – The Others

Grace Stewart (Nicole Kidman) lived in a beautiful isolated family estate with her two photosensitive children. After a trio of workers arrived to help out around the house, Grace started to experience an unwanted presence all around her. She originally believed the house was haunted, but after a séance was set up by the supposed spirits, it was revealed that Grace, her children, AND the workers were all dead and they were the ones haunting the place. After her husband went off to fight in World War II, Grace snapped at one point, smothered her children with a pillow, and put a gun to her head. When she saw her children playing just seconds after she pulled the trigger, she thought she was given a second chance by God. The truth was they were all dead and they were all trapped in that house because of her and her psychotic break.
Mrs. Lomax – The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence)

Mrs. Lomax (Vivien Bridson) is truly an overlooked psychotic mother. When her husband was caught sexually abusing their son, Martin (Laurence R. Harvey), she blamed Martin, which is messed up enough. She hated Martin for sending her husband to prison and she had no problem telling him that on a regular basis. Then she picked a fight with a burly neighbor and coaxed him into beating Martin up. She even tried to stab Martin in his sleep, but he was already out of bed. When it comes to the whole Nature vs. Nurture debate, I’d definitely say in Martin’s case, his psychotic tendencies all started with his parents.
Verna Sawyer – Leatherface

Verna Sawyer (Lili Taylor) was the matriarch of the psychotic Sawyer clan. When her son, Jed (Sam Strike) was just a little boy, she gave him his first chainsaw for his birthday and tried to get him to murder a man they believed to be a thief. She warped his mind to believe that everyone outside of the family was the enemy and she was the only one he could count on. When Jed was taken away from her and placed in a mental institution, she did everything in her power to get him back. When legal methods fell through, Verna ran through the institution and gave all of the other patients a chance to tear the place apart and escape. Jed spent most of his years away from his family as a decent and trusting person, but once he was reunited with Verna, she was able to brainwash him once again.
