Horror Legends I Wish I Could’ve Met – Part 1

I wasn’t really sure what to write about today, but then my wonderful brother gave me a surprise this morning! He gave me a ticket for a Comic Con event that’s in town this August. It’ll be my first ever Comic Con and I’m just so overwhelmed with joy! There is a hell of a line-up that’s going to be there, and it made me think about some of the horror movie legends that I wish I could’ve met. These horror legends unfortunately are no longer with us and even though chances are good that I never would’ve met them anyway, today I wanted to share some celebrities that I wish I could’ve met before their passing. I hope you enjoy and share some of your Comic Con/celebrity meeting stories!

Sid Haig (1939-2019)

Sid had a hell of an acting career. The first thing I ever saw him in was, no surprise, The Devil’s Rejects. He’ll always be Captain Spaulding to me, but he certainly gave it 110% in everything I’ve seen him in.

Alan Rickman (1946-2016)

I know Alan is most associated with the Harry Potter franchise, but I mostly know him as the evil Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd. I remember the first time I heard his unique voice and his singing was just beautiful.

Shelley Duvall (1949-2024)

I could tell just by her demeanor that she was a gentle and sweet soul. After hearing about what she went through on the set of The Shining, I just wanted to give her a big hug. She truly deserved better in life.

Wes Craven (1939-2015)

Wes was undoubtedly one of the best horror filmmakers to ever exist. He created a lot of films that I’ve seen so many times, I know by heart. When I heard of his passing, I was so devastated and heartbroken.

Aaliyah (1979-2001)

Aaliyah was such a rising acting talent. Her performance in Queen Of The Damned was amazing. Her performance as Akasha was my introduction to her. Her life was cut way too short.

Leslie Nielson (1926-2010)

Although Leslie is mostly known for his comedic roles, I also loved his contribution to the horror genre. I loved seeing him in Creepshow and Prom Night. Plus, his horror parodies were off the charts. One of his last parodies, Stan Helsing is one of my all-time favorite comedies.

Corey Haim (1971-2010)

Corey Haim was a treasure in everything I’ve seen him in. I first saw him in The Lost Boys and I loved his charisma and energy in it. Then I saw him as the sweet and innocent Marty Coslaw in Silver Bullet. His story was tragic and heartbreaking and I wish things worked out better for him.

Dick Miller (1928-2019)

Dick was definitely one of those actors who I loved seeing on screen, no matter the role. I grew up with him when he was on Small Soldiers, and when I became a horror fan, I got to see more gems he was in. He stole the scene every time he showed up and he was an underrated talent.

Betsy Palmer (1926-2015)

Even though Betsy didn’t care for the Friday The 13th film, it certainly didn’t stop her from giving her all in her performance as Pamela Voorhees. I remember being completely mesmerized by her performance when I first saw the film. She was so intriguing and freaky.

Vincent Price (1911-1993)

Vincent is one of the horror movie godfathers! His career in the genre spans decades. He had an enchanting voice and very charming presence. I hate that he lived and passed before I was even born so meeting him was impossible.
