I’m finally back with part 2 of Dumbest Decisions In Horror Films: Villain Edition! Sometimes a horror movie hero wins their fight against the villain by making smart decisions. Other times, they get the upper hand due to the villain’s stupid decision-making. Today, I’m sharing the decisions that horror movie villains made that played a big part in their own downfall. I hope you enjoy and let me know what decisions should be in this series! (TRIGGER WARNING!!!) (MAJOR SPOILERS!!!)
When Alex Sang The Very Same Song – A Clockwork Orange

Alex (Malcolm McDowell) was a despicable kid who ran a gang of dreadful droogies who caused violence wherever they went. One of their worst crimes was when they broke into a couple’s home, beat up the husband, Mr. Alexander (Patrick Magee) and raped his wife right in front of him. While they were hurting them, Alex sang a very memorable tune, Singin’ In The Rain. Later, Alex was sent to prison for another crime and years after, he volunteered for a program that supposedly rehabilitated him. After being set free, he was kicked out of his home, he was attacked by homeless people, then he was assaulted by his former friends. In an injured state, Alex ended up at the very house he invaded years before. To Alex’s luck, Mr. Alexander didn’t recognize him and even decided to help him. Everything seemed to be fine, until Alex started to sing the very song he sang when he assaulted Mr. Alexander’s wife. He didn’t recognize his face but he certainly knew that voice. Of all of the songs Alex could’ve possible sung, it had to be the one that Mr. Alexander would’ve recognized the most.
When Johnny Took A Bath With Jennifer – I Spit On Your Grave (1978)

Wanting to have some peace and quiet to write her novel, Jennifer Hills (Camille Keaton) rented a cabin in the middle of nowhere. Little did she know, she caught the attention of 4 local rednecks who decided to make her vacation a living nightmare. They raped her multiple times and one of the rednecks was chosen to kill her, but he chickened out. While she was recovering from that terrible day, she had time to plan her revenge against each one. When she got to the group’s leader, Johnny (Eron Tabor), it was almost too easy. He willingly got into a car with her and when he was forced to strip at gunpoint, he thought it would be a good idea to tell Jennifer that she was basically asking for what they did to her. At that moment, Jennifer realized shooting him would be too good for him. Johnny was even able to grab the gun from her and he just tossed it aside. When she offered to give him a bath, he happily obliged, not realizing that that’s where she was going to castrate him. I’ve seen some dumb and despicable villains, but Johnny is one of the worst AND the dumbest!
When Rose Gave Walter The Gun – Get Out

When Chris Washington (Daniel Kaluuya) went on a trip to meet his girlfriend, Rose’s (Allison Williams) family, he had no idea the kind of trouble he’d be in. After they arrived, he quickly realized something wasn’t right. Eventually, he figured out Rose and her family trapped black people in their own minds so their bodies became vessels for rich old white people. Chris found a way to escape and he killed all members of the evil family except for Rose and her grandpa who was in the body of a man named Walter (Marcus Henderson). Chris ended up pulling Walter out of the hypnotism by flashing his phone light in his eyes. Unaware that Walter was no longer her grandfather, Rose willingly handed him the gun she had and he turned it around and shot her in the stomach. She must’ve been completely unaware of her surroundings to not see the flashing light and to not realize that Walter had a complete personality change.
When Doom-Head Took His Sweet Time – 31

On Halloween night, 5 carnival workers were kidnapped and forced to fight for their lives for 12 hours at the amusement of 3 very wealthy sadists. The group did a good job fighting as they created their own body count out of the psychopathic clowns they faced off against. With their killers dying, the trio called in the one person they could count on to finish the job, Doom-Head (Richard Brake). Doom-Head narrowed down the survivors pretty quickly and with just 1 survivor left, Doom-Head thought he had this in the bag. Even though he was running out of time, he was cocky enough to taunt the last survivor and give her a long and pretentious speech. Because of his ego, he ended up running out of time for the first time in his messed up career.
When Aquarius Didn’t Kill Sebastian – 3 From Hell

After losing his father at the hands of the Firefly family, Aquarius (Emilio Rivera) swore revenge. After the family escaped from prison, they decided that they should drive down to Mexico. There, they went to a small town where they resided at a motel run by a man named Carlos (Richard Edson). Little did they know was that Carlos recognized the trio and he told Aquarius exactly where they were. However, Carlos’ employee, Sebastian (Pancho Moler) quickly bonded with Baby Firefly (Sheri Moon Zombie) and decided to help them when Aquarius and his men rolled into town to kill them. After fighting and killing for a good while, the Firefly family was apprehended and Sebastian was shot. Aquarius almost finished him off, but decided killing him wouldn’t be worth it. This decision ended up being his undoing. As everyone was distracted watching Otis (Bill Moseley) fight one of Aquarius’s men, Sebastian set Baby and Foxy (Richard Brake) free, and Aquarius went from getting his revenge to getting barbecued alive.
