My Top 10 Favorite Movies Of 2024

Welcome back, everyone! I’m so sorry I haven’t posted at all this year so far!! I’ve been doing my best to push back my writer’s block and I finally finished the article I wanted to post on New Year’s Eve. Today, I’m sharing my top 10 favorite movies that were released in 2024! This really wasn’t easy to narrow down. 2024 provided a lot of films that I just loved and narrowing it down to just 10 was almost impossible. I made my choices based on quality, how often I watched the films, and overall impact. I hope you enjoy and let me know your favorite 2024 film!!

10. Speak No Evil

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): A family is invited to spend a whole weekend in a lonely home in the countryside, but as the weekend progresses, they realize that a dark side lies within the family who invited them.

I honestly wasn’t expecting this one to be put on the list, but it really stuck with me. I couldn’t get the story out of my head for days, I’ve even had nightmares about it! There’s no doubt James McAvoy was amazing in this film, and everyone else did wonderful as well. The tension in this film was superb, there were moments where I felt genuinely uncomfortable. This one was a pleasant surprise for me and it certainly did a good job at leaving an impact!

9. The First Omen

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): A young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, but encounters a darkness that causes her to question her faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate.

As someone who didn’t really care for the sequel to The Omen, I was pleasantly surprised when I watched this prequel! It had a good story, a great atmosphere, and imagery that haunted me for days. It brought new details to an old story and perfectly set up a possible new installment. The mystery and the characters were especially intriguing! This is definitely a must-watch for Omen fans!

8. The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): The British military recruits a small group of highly skilled soldiers to strike against German forces behind enemy lines during World War II.

This film was Inglourious Basterds for a new generation. One of the best aspects in this film is that it’s based on a crazy true story. Guy Ritchie certainly hasn’t lost his touch when it comes to bringing us bada** characters, an intense mission, and plenty of laughs in between the carnage. This is definitely one of the best action movies I’ve EVER seen!

7. Smile 2

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): About to embark on a world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to face her past.

I’m really glad that I got the chance to see this film before the year’s end. I absolutely love the first film and I was very excited to see how the sequel was going to up its game. The vibe of the film perfectly matched the original and it really did a wonderful job at making you question everything you’ve seen. I’m so psyched to see where they go in the third film!

6. Oddity

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): A psychic medium attempts to uncover the truth behind her sister’s murder at the site of the crime.

This was undoubtedly the scariest horror film I’ve seen in 2024. I love a good mystery/revenge tale and this film more than delivered. The atmosphere was so tense, it was superb and I jumped more than once throughout the whole film. I’m really happy I gave this one a chance, and I think every horror fan should watch it at least once!

5. Deadpool & Wolverine

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) is offered a place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by the Time Variance Authority, but instead recruits a variant of Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) to save his universe from extinction.

I honestly questioned if the filmmakers could top what they did in Deadpool 2, and I believe they have with this film! This had variants and cameos galore and I loved every second of it. It’s like every scene had its own surprise to keep everyone on their toes. This was a collaboration that people have been wanting for a long time and I believe it was definitely worth waiting for. I am a little bummed that some Deadpool characters had to take a backseat in this film, but it’s honestly just a little criticism from me.

4. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): After a family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton), Lydia’s (Winona Ryder) life is turned upside down when her teenage daughter, Astrid (Jenna Ortega), accidentally opens the portal to the Afterlife.

Like many others, I’ve been anxiously waiting for the ghost with the most to return, and for me, it was WELL worth the wait! It was so wonderful seeing all of these characters again and seeing that whole netherworld again. This sequel was still full of surprises and didn’t let up on the entertainment factor. Of course, everyone completely nailed their roles and left their marks. I also love the tribute to the old Italian horror films, I think it was very well done. I know it will most likely never happen, but if Beetlejuice 3 ever happens, I’ll be the first in the theater!

3. The 4:30 Movie

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): A group of teens in the 1980s spend the day theater-hopping.

This almost immediately became one of my go-to comfort movies after I watched it. I love the simple storyline of a couple of friends sharing their love of movies while one of them tries to date the girl of his dreams. I love all of the cameos made by Kevin Smith regulars and the fake trailers that were made for the film were so great. I also love that it feels a bit autobiographical. Kevin Smith always took elements from his own life and put them in his films and I don’t think he stopped with this one. Overall, this is a great tale of friendship, love, and nostalgia.

2. Late Night With The Devil

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): A live television broadcast in 1977 goes horribly wrong, unleashing evil into the nation’s living rooms.

I debated whether or not to include this one on my list because I couldn’t for the life of me remember if it was released in 2023 or 2024 and multiple sources said different. After some thinking, I realized I couldn’t exclude it from here, I just love it too much! I immediately fell in love with the style and vision of this film. The premise is so simple and so fun. It has fascinating characters and if this was a real show, I’d watch every second of it. it’s creepy, suspenseful, and utterly shocking!

1. Apartment 7A

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): A struggling young dancer finds herself drawn in by dark forces when a peculiar, well-connected older couple promise her a shot at fame.

I didn’t need to go through my whole ranking routine to know that this is my all-time favorite film of 2024! As you know, I’m a huge fan of Rosemary’s Baby and I love that this film told the story of Terry Gianoffrio (Julia Garner). The dancing in the film was absolutely magnificent to watch and added a wonderful element to the entire vibe of the film. Kevin McNally and Dianne Wiest certainly had big shoes to fill as Minnie and Roman Castevet, and I think they were nothing short of marvelous. This was a fantastic addition to the franchise and it’s a story I’ll never be tired of!
