A while back, I shared some of the couples in movies who make me believe in love. This series is a little different. Today I’m sharing some of my favorite love stories in films. For this series, these couples don’t start off together, but they end up together by the end of the film (or in my imagination haha). These are some of my favorite stories of instant connection and everlasting love. I hope you enjoy and let me know some of your favorite loves stories!! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
Edie & The Egg Man – Pink Flamingos

Sometimes even the strangest people can find their soulmate. Edie (Edith Massey) was a child-like soul who spent most of her days sitting in a playpen and eating eggs. Eggs were her whole life and the highlight of her week was when The Egg Man stopped by with his newest batches. Their romance blossomed over time and The Egg Man (Paul Swift) knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her and provide her with all the eggs she could ever desire. I don’t know exactly what it was about these two but I found their story very sweet. They bonded over eggs and I could tell they’d never have a single fight in their relationship.
Anne & Pete – Body Bags

Anne (Alex Datcher) was a young student starting her new job working graveyard shift at a gas station. Working alone at night at a gas station in the middle of nowhere is scary enough as it is. On top of it, Anne had to deal with creepy customers and an uneasy feeling all night. Then along came Pete (David Naughton)! Pete was handsome, charming, and he and Anne felt an instant attraction. Their story seemed to be over as he drove off, and her uneasy feeling immediately came back. She soon realized that her uneasy feeling came from the fact that the man who she thought was her boss was actually a crazed maniac who killed her boss and now targeted her. Just as he was about to kill her, Pete swooped in just in time to distract him long enough for her to kill him. Normally, the damsel in distress storyline is too played out, but I like to imagine them telling their kids and grandkids this story about how they met.
Ed & Kathy – Ed Wood

(NOTE: I’m speaking about the movie versions of these characters, not the real people as I know some facts about Ed’s relationships were left out of this film.) Ed (Johnny Depp) was an ambitious, struggling filmmaker who wanted to share his ideas with the world. One of the main problems that Ed had with his former girlfriend, Delores (Sarah Jessica Parker) was that she had a hard time accepting the fact that he found comfort in wearing women’s clothing. Not only that, she had a hard time being around his group of loving and accepting friends, and the kind of films Ed made. A while after they broke up, Ed’s friend, Bela Lugosi (Martin Landau) had to be checked into a rehab, where Ed met the true love of his life, Kathy (Patricia Arquette). On their official first date, Ed was upfront with the fact that he wore women’s clothes and after a beat, Kathy assured she was ok with that. Ed later proposed to her at the premiere of his most famous film and they drove off to live a long and happy life together. It’s one of my favorite on-screen romances!
DeeAnna & Joe – Hail, Caesar!

DeeAnna (Scarlett Johansson) was a famous movie star who had a bit of a set-back after finding out she was pregnant. Fearing for her reputation and the studio’s, Capitol Pictures’ fixer, Eddie (Josh Brolin) tried to get her married as quickly as possible. DeeAnna made it clear she didn’t want to marry another lousy bum, and the father of her baby was already married, so Eddie had to come up with another plan. He came up with the plan that DeeAnna was going to give her baby to the studio’s fallback guy, Joe (Jonah Hill), so she could “adopt” her own baby. As they were explaining everything to her, she just couldn’t keep her eyes off of Joe. They ended up having dinner that night and by 3:00 that morning, they were married and ready to start their new life together. Now the way this studio handled her pregnancy was pathetic and frustrating. However, I loved how she and Joe took control and I hope they had a long and happy marriage.
Lily & Herman – The Munsters

Lily (Sheri Moon Zombie) was a lonely vampire who just wanted to find Mr. Right. Herman (Jeff Daniel Phillips) was a comedian who died and was resurrected as an undead funny man. The connection between Lily and Herman was instantaneous. From the moment they laid eyes on each other, they fell hard for each other. I adored seeing their love grow, and they stayed together, no matter what Lily’s father tried to do or say. They overcame their obstacles as a couple and didn’t take it out on each other, and that’s why I think they have one of the strongest relationships!
