The King Of Queens: Worst Things Doug Did – Part 1

A while back when I was binge-watching The King Of Queens, I started to think about all of the worst things that the characters have done to the people around them. I’m of course starting with Doug because he’s one of the main characters and, let’s face it, his list was the longest. I hope you enjoy and let me know what you consider to be the worst thing Doug ever did! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)

When He Lied To Carrie To Get Her To Sleep With Him – Consummate Professional

Doug and Carrie’s early dating life hit a rocky road when Doug learned that she had quite a reputation, yet she wouldn’t sleep with him. Instead of understanding that she wanted an actual relationship with him and she wouldn’t sleep with him until he matured, Doug lied to her and told her he had a job. This lie escalated to the point where he pretended to work at IPS for months before getting himself “fired” and then he swindled himself into an actual job there. He kept this from her for 10 years and he never would’ve come clean about it if she didn’t do the math herself on his 10 year anniversary. His lying and manipulation started VERY early in their relationship and I’m surprised that we don’t get to see how Carrie reacted to the news after all of those years.

When He Rented A Second Home – Apartment Complex

Needing a place to play cards, Doug, Spence, Deacon, and Danny decided to rent out a small apartment above a Chinese restaurant. This apartment started out as an epic place for them to have all of the fun they wanted. After a while, they grew bored of the place and gave it up. Doug spent 30 seconds inside his house before leaving and re-renting the apartment, this time as an actual second home. He even took a job at the restaurant in exchange for living there. He had an entire secret life that Carrie didn’t know about. He wanted to get away from his own wife and he didn’t even stay in trouble because at the time, Carrie had her own problems that she wanted to get away from.

When He Forced Arthur Back Into The Basement – Frozen Pop

During a freezing week, Arthur was moved into the office right across from Carrie and Doug’s room. After a few days, the weather got warmer and Doug and Carrie thought things would go back to normal. However, Arthur began to love living in the office and he started to move some of his stuff from the basement. Now, Carrie wasn’t thrilled about Arthur being so close to them, but she was willing to compromise and move him upstairs, but Doug wasn’t budging on the subject. They ultimately told him it was time to move back downstairs and, of course, the weather became freezing again. I honestly figured Doug would be happy to let Arthur back upstairs. He always wanted his basement back and this would’ve solved everyone’s problems. But, of course, he only thought about himself.

When He Framed Danny For The Lewd Picture – Flash Photography

Absolutely bored to tears at a family friend’s wedding, Doug was desperate to find some entertainment. When Deacon told him a story about how a guest at his wedding took a picture of his butt, Doug immediately grabbed the disposable camera and hit the restroom. Only, he didn’t take a picture of his butt, he took a little top hat and put it on his penis instead. He thought that the wedding couple would get a kick out of it on their honeymoon, but they got the pictures developed early and a majority of the guests, including Doug’s mother, got an eyeful of it. To make matters worse, Danny was blamed for the picture because he was the bride’s ex-boyfriend and they thought he did it out of spite. Danny was hammered at the wedding so he was even gaslit into believing he did it! Doug just stood by and let Danny’s life and a marriage almost get destroyed. If I was Danny, I never would’ve spoken to him again.

When He Got Carrie Drunk Every Night – Lush Life

After Carrie started having cocktails nightly with a new co-worker, Doug and Arthur noticed that they could get away with a lot of things while she was good and buzzed. Doug could cheat on his diet and smoke cigars, and Arthur was free to hoard whatever random trash he could find. They put her health at risk just because she wanted Doug to make more healthy decisions and Arthur to stop hoarding things he didn’t need. Now I know you’re probably thinking that Carrie made the choice to drink and that’s not really Doug’s fault. Well, that’s true, however Carrie stopped the nightly drinking when she stopped hanging out with her co-worker and Doug and Arthur continued the cocktail nights for their own selfish gain.
