Well, I’ve been procrastinating again! I just got done re-binging one of my favorite shows, Seinfeld. Today, I decided to share some of the episodes that made me fall in love with the show. I hope you enjoy and let me know some of your favorite Seinfeld episodes! (POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!!)
The Ex-Girlfriend

After George breaks up with his annoying girlfriend, he asks Jerry to get his books back from her. After spending some time together, they start to develop feelings for each other and start dating behind George’s back. Meanwhile, George is preoccupied with the charge on his chiropractor bill and Elaine is annoyed that she’s snubbed by a guy she used to have regular conversations with. This one almost immediately became one of my go-to episodes when I first started this show. Tracy Kolis as the ex-girlfriend, Marlene was fantastic in her role and her fake Southern accent was what stuck with me the most. I love the conversations in this episode, from George’s relationship rant, to his breakup analogy, to Elaine’s final confrontation. This is such a great episode to start my binge with.
The Abstinence

When Jerry’s gig gets bumped on Career Day at his old Jr. High School, his manager, Katie sets up an assembly and he’s supposed to come up with 2 hours worth of material. When George’s girlfriend finds out she has Mono, they have to abstain from sex for a while and George learns that lack of sex actually increases his focus and intelligence. Unfortunately, it has the opposite effect for Elaine as she withholds sex so her boyfriend could pass his certification to becoming a doctor. This episode is very reminiscent of another favorite of mine, The Opposite. I love seeing George and Elaine so out of character. Intelligent George actually got stuff done and Dim Elaine was a laugh riot! I also wish we got to see more of Katie ruining things for Jerry. She had good intentions, she was just bad at her job.
The Red Dot

When Elaine gets George a job at her publishing company, he buys her a cashmere sweater with a little red dot on it. Meanwhile, her boyfriend, Dick falls off the wagon after Jerry accidentally puts Elaine’s alcoholic drink next to his. This is one of my favorite Christmas episodes! I love how George tried to pass off this sweater to just about everyone and no one wanted it because of a little red dot. I also love when Dick interrupted Jerry’s act in a drunken rage. This was the only time where his act gets interrupted like that, I thought it was so great. Of course, I can’t forget Kramer hitting all of the drunken stages after having just one cup of scotch. This whole episode was gold from beginning to end!
The Opera
As the group attends the opera, Jerry and Elaine realize they’re being stalked by the same man, Crazy Joe Davola. Meanwhile, George and Kramer attempt to scalp a few extra tickets before the opening. This episode was my introduction to Pagliacci, and I absolutely fell in love with the song Vesti La Guibba, all thanks to it. I would’ve loved to see a better conclusion to Crazy Joe Davola’s story because he was so freaky in this episode. With the music and Peter Crombie’s performance as Crazy Joe Davola, this was a truly unforgettable episode that I’ll throw on at any time.
The Serenity Now

After installing Frank and Estelle’s old screen door on his apartment door, Kramer starts to get harassed by a group of kids in the building. In order to keep calm, Kramer tries Frank’s phrase of tranquility, “Serenity Now.” Meanwhile, Jerry finally opens up his emotions, yet he quickly finds out that it’s not so easy to close them again. Also, the Jewish men in Elaine’s life renounce their religion in order to get with her. Finally, in between jobs, George helps his father sell computers in order to beat his old rival, Lloyd Braun. This was such a great and iconic episode! The phrase, “serenity now, insanity later” is one of my absolute favorites. This is another example of out of character moments in the show. We get a rage-filled Kramer completely losing his cool, and a sensitive Jerry who tells everyone he loves them. This whole scenario was nothing short of hilarious!
