Welcome to Day 2 of Spooky Season! I’ve been wanting to start this series for a while, because as I was watching some horror films, I couldn’t help but notice times where the villains actually helped the protagonists. Whether intentional or unintentional, these villains ended up temporarily aiding the protagonists in their quests for survival. I hope you enjoy and let me know which moments you feel should be in this series! (POSSIBLE TRIGGER WARNING!!) (MAJOR SPOILERS!!)
When Junior Distracted Krug – The Last House On The Left
John (Richard Towers) and Estelle (Cynthia Carr) Collingwood wanted to make sure their daughter, Mari (Sandra Peabody) had a wonderful birthday. While she was at a concert with her friend, they decorated the house, baked her a nice birthday cake, and waited patiently for her return. When she didn’t come home, they called the police multiple times and assumed the worst. Unfortunately, their assumptions were correct as Mari and her friend were killed, and the gang of killers were in their home, posing as innocents who were just stranded. Once they heard what the gang did to Mari, they swore revenge. John set his sights on the leader, Krug (David Hess). Unfortunately, Krug was a hell of a fighter and John was losing pretty easily. John would’ve been killed if Krug’s addict son, Junior (Marc Sheffler) didn’t try to shoot at Krug. After the shot, Krug convinced him to turn the gun on himself and blow his own brains out. Junior ended up doing it, and that little bit of time gave John the chance to run to the basement and grab his chainsaw. Because of Junior, John got his revenge against the man who took his daughter away.
When Jason Killed The Rapists – Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan

Afraid of water most of her life, Rennie (Jensen Daggett) decided to face her fears and join her classmates on a luxury cruise on its way to New York. On the way there, ruthless serial killer, Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder) climbed aboard and picked off the passengers one by one until only a handful of survivors made it to Manhattan. Almost immediately after arriving on shore, the group was accosted by a duo of robbers and rapists. Separating Rennie from the other survivors, the two men took her in an alleyway and drugged her. As one of the men was getting ready to abuse her, Jason came up from behind him and stabbed him with the very needle Rennie was drugged with. As he was killing the other man, Rennie was able to get away, for the moment. Sure, Jason wanted to kill Rennie, but he saved her from a very horrible fate. Fans even noticed Jason nodding slightly as she was running away, possibly hinting at his morality.
When Chucky And Tiffany Killed Warren And Needlenose – Bride Of Chucky

Jesse (Nick Stabile) and Jade (Katherine Heigl) were two young kids madly in love. The only problem they had was Jade’s crazy Chief uncle, Warren (John Ritter) and his weasel deputy, Needlenose. Unfortunately, they had the power to frame Jesse with anything if he didn’t stay away from Jade. When Jesse got a call from his neighbor, Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) with an offer of $1000 to drive a couple of dolls to New Jersey, he saw his opportunity to run away with Jade. With the money, they agreed to run off and get married. While they were getting packed, Warren snuck into Jesse’s van to plant weed for Needlenose to find. There, he learned the hard way that the dolls in the van were actually Tiffany and her just as psychotic boyfriend, Chucky (Brad Dourif). They killed Warren and stowed him away. Later, Needlenose stopped the van on a “routine search” and when he found the weed, Jesse was about to be in so much trouble. Luckily, Chucky torched Needlenose before he could arrest anyone. Sure, Chucky and Tiffany caused a LOT of problems for Jesse and Jade, but in this case, they took care of 2 BIG problems.
When Mama Killed Jeffrey – Mama

On a chilly and supposedly normal winter morning, Jeffrey Desange (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) snapped, shot his co-workers, then drove home and killed his wife. Then, he grabbed his little girls, Lilly (Isabelle Nélisse) and Victoria (Megan Charpentier) and ran off in desperation. Going too fast on an icy road, Jeffrey slid his car and crashed it. They walked to a little cabin in the middle of nowhere… a cabin inhabited by the vengeful spirit of Edith Brennan, a.k.a. Mama (Javier Botet). Jeffrey’s plan was to kill his daughters and then shoot himself, but Mama had other plans. When he pointed his gun at the back of Victoria’s head, Mama immediately swooped him up and snapped his neck. Mama sank her hooks into the girls and raised them as her own. She kept them safe and fed for 5 years before they were found and rescued. Mama was a very angry and obsessive being, but if it wasn’t for her, Lilly and Victoria would’ve been killed by their father and they never would’ve had a chance to survive.
When Betelgeuse Stopped The Transfer – Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Lydia Deetz’ (Winona Ryder) relationship with her daughter, Astrid (Jenna Ortega) became broken after she and Astrid’s father, Richard (Santiago Cabrera) separated and he died. One of their biggest issues was that Astrid considered Lydia a fraud and she couldn’t really see ghosts. Astrid then met and fell for a young boy she later realized was a ghost himself. The boy, Jeremy (Arthur Conti) told her she could find her father in the Netherworld. What Astrid didn’t realize was that the incantation that he had her read was a soul transference. Astrid would take his place as a ghost and Jeremy would be alive again. Fearing for her daughter’s soul, Lydia made a deal with famed bio-exorcist, Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton) to save her. When they split off in the Netherworld, Lydia (and Richard) found Astrid. They took so long catching up and making amends, that they arrived just in time to see Jeremy’s passport get stamped. They are straight LUCKY that it was Betelgeuse who did the stamping! He may have helped for the sole purpose of getting Lydia’s hand in marriage, but he still saved Astrid’s soul and sent Jeremy down to where he belonged!
