Welcome to Day 3 of Spooky Season!! Trilogy Of Terror is one of those films where I forget it even exists for a good while, and when I come across it again, I just fall in love with it all over again! It was such a unique concept to have legendary horror star, Karen Black play 4 different lead roles in these 3 segments. Today, I’m ranking the 3 stories that made this movie iconic! I hope you enjoy and let me know your favorite Trilogy Of Terror story!! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
3. Amelia

Wanting to have the perfect evening with her boyfriend, Amelia purchased a Zuni fetish doll for his birthday. After an argument with her mother, Amelia set the doll on the table hard enough to knock off the chain that kept its soul bound. I know what you’re thinking! I’ve lost all credibility by knocking the most iconic segment dead last on my list. The reason I did so was because pacing is a big thing for me and this segment just ran a little long for my taste. The doll is super creepy, no doubt, and I love the ending! However, when the chase scene or fight scene is too long, it starts to lose my attention.
2. Julie

Chad Foster (Robert Burton) was a college student who bragged about getting any girl that he wanted. Once he set his sights on his teacher, Julie Eldridge, Chad came up with a plan to manipulate and use her however he wanted. This one was definitely an uncomfortable segment. Of course, I felt so bad for Julie. She was just a timid woman who kept to herself and he was such a despicable person. Then the ending pulls a complete 180 and it turns out she was the one pulling the strings all along! I’m not sure how strong a twist it is, but it really made me want to know more about who/what Julie really was.
1. Millicent & Therese

Following the death of their father, two polar opposite sisters, Millicent and Therese spiraled in their hatred for each other. With Therese having the time of her life and dabbling in the Dark Arts, and Millicent planning Theresa’s demise, things eventually led to disastrous and tragic results. I absolutely love this story! I think the setup was perfect and these two characters were probably my favorite performances of Karen Black’s this whole film. The best part is undoubtedly the ending. I remember how genuinely surprised I was when I first saw it. I honestly could’ve watched a whole feature film about this segment alone.
