Horror Movie Characters I Wish Didn’t Die – Part 6

Welcome to Day 12 of Spooky Season!! Today, I’m sharing part 6 of horror movie characters that I wish didn’t die. Whether I really enjoyed these characters or I simply didn’t think they deserved to die, these are some of the characters that I wish got a better ending. I hope you enjoy and let me know who you think should be in this series! (MAJOR SPOILERS!!!)

Nancy Thompson – A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp) was cursed ever since she was a teenager. After her parents, among others, killed local child murderer, Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), Freddy started invading the nightmares of their kids who were still alive and killing them in their dreams. Nancy barely survived her first encounter with Krueger, and she became a psychiatrist and got herself a job at Weston Hills in order to help the remaining kids that Krueger was after. When one of the kids was trapped in Freddy’s world, the rest of the kids and Nancy entered the world to rescue him. They put up a good fight and they believed they defeated Freddy once and for all. THEN Freddy took the form of Nancy’s father and fooled her into giving him a hug, giving him the chance to stab her. Nancy was such a strong and smart character. I not only hate that she died, I hate that she died by being so gullible. You don’t trust ANYTHING in Freddy’s world, and you know that, Nancy!

Polly – May

Growing up without a lot of friends, May Canady (Angela Bettis) grew an obsession with people, mostly their perfect body parts. May developed quite a few connections and friendships in her adult years, but for one reason or another, they all crumbled. I don’t think Polly (Anna Faris) fits in the category as the rest of May’s friends. Polly worked at the hospital with May and she flirted with May from time to time. After May lost her boyfriend, Polly gave her the intimacy that she needed. Now, when May later saw her with another woman, I can understand the betrayal that she felt. However, Polly never said they were exclusive, and when she saw how upset May was, she was willing to send the other person away. Plus, when May was on her downward spiral, Polly was the only one who called to check up on her. But, because May was so obsessed with her neck, Polly’s fate was unfortunately already sealed.

Mara Stone – Wrong Turn 2: Dead End

Mara (Aleksa Palladino) was a producer on her boyfriend, Michael’s (Matthew Currie Holmes) latest project, an apocalyptic survival reality show. When one of the contestants failed to show up, she was pushed into taking her place in the competition. While on a mission with her survival partner, Nina (Erica Leerhsen) she caught Michael cheating on her with another contestant. Distraught, Mara and Nina went to find a phone to call for a ride out of there. They came across a house in the middle of nowhere and found themselves targeted by a backwoods cannibal family. While trying to run away, Mara got an axe to the head and died almost instantly. Now, I thought Mara was going to be the timid soul who ends up finding her fight and being the final girl in the end. Instead, she was one of the first to die. The way they intentionally set that up was a very clever way to throw us off guard, but I was still hoping to see what she was capable of.

Doris – Fright Night (2011)

Doris (Emily Montague) was a go-go dancer who worked nights on the Las Vegas strip. When her new neighbor, Jerry (Colin Farrell) invited her over for drinks, she didn’t realize it meant he’d be drinking her blood. Jerry was a vampire looking to add innocent people to his coven, and Doris was one of his first victims. When Doris’s neighbor, Charley (Anton Yelchin) snuck into Jerry’s house, he tried to help her escape. Unfortunately, Jerry came back and started draining her blood. I’ll tell you, the way that Doris was losing all her blood and she still signaled to Charley to stay quiet and hidden really earned my respect for her. The way they snuck around to escape was so suspenseful and it was all so she could burn up as soon as the sun hits her. It was a great shock, but I still wish she somehow could’ve survived.

Bob – Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Bob (Nick Kellington) was Betelgeuse’s (Michael Keaton) right hand man in his bio-exorcism business. When Betelgeuse’s ex-wife, Delores (Monica Bellucci) was resurrected, her main goal was to either complete her soul sucking ritual that she started when they were alive, or to be with him in the afterlife for eternity (I’m not going to lie, I’m still not sure what her plan was, exactly). Either way, Betelgeuse was screwed and he had to find a way to escape her. One of his plans was to have Bob dress as him to fool Delores. When the Netherworld authorities tried to find Betelgeuse, they interrogated Bob, and that’s exactly where Delores found him. Since Delores sucked the souls out of the sprits through their mouths, I honestly thought Bob was going to be safe since his mouth was sewn shut. Boy, was I wrong! Poor Bob was too loyal for his own good, and so he suffered a death for the dead.
