Sharing My Own Unpopular Horror Movie Opinions – Part 1

We’ve now reached Day 14 of Spooky Season!! This article is going to be a quick one as I’m currently trying to motivate myself. A while back, I responded to a few unpopular horror movie opinions. Today, I decided to share some of my own. These are some opinions about horror movies that I’ve had that I’m sure not a lot of people agree with. I hope you enjoy and share some of your unpopular horror movie opinions! (SPOILER ON LAST PARAGRAPH!!!)

While the new Halloween trilogy isn’t my favorite in the franchise, I do really like that when it came to the vision that John Carpenter originally had for Michael Myers and the darkness that he spreads and infects others with, David Gordon Green was definitely the one who came the closest to bringing it to life.

I love American Psycho II: All American Girl WAY more than the first one. I found Rachael to be a much more fascinating killer. She was so obsessed with catching killers and so goal oriented that she became the very thing she was obsessed about! Patrick Bateman, on the other hand, was such a bigoted piece of s**t, it was so hard to even watch him. He just drove me nuts the entire time.

I found The Exorcist, Eraserhead, and 2001: A Space Odyssey incredibly boring. Yes, I know they were very revolutionary in their time, but I just couldn’t really focus on any of them. I watched The Exorcist 3 different times, and I still don’t remember a good chunk of it.

It seems to me that Legacy Sequels are becoming the new Remakes when it comes to hate within the horror community. I’m not saying they’re hated as much as remakes, but they’re getting there. Frankly, I want MORE legacy sequels! I want more horror legends returning after 20-30 years and passing the torch to a new generation. The ones I’ve seen so far, I’ve really liked. A Nightmare On Elm Street, Urban Legend, Friday The 13th, Pet Sematary, etc., so many movies, so much potential!!

I think Jackie Earle Haley did a great job as Freddy Krueger. He was dark, he was creepy, and his voice was fantastic! I know the remake wasn’t the best in the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise, but I don’t think that was due to Jackie’s performance.

I didn’t really like when the Evil Dead sequels became more comedic. The first film was so creepy, then they just went straight slapstick. I think that’s why I like the newer films the best, because they gave me exactly what I wanted. I love horror comedies, I just don’t think the Evil Dead films were supposed to be that.

I think as a horror actress, Paris Hilton should get more credit. I thought she was fantastic in Repo! The Genetic Opera. She was also pretty good in House Of Wax.

I think it’s time for sequels to the Fantasy Island and Until Dawn horror films. The concepts are just too great to not do anything with. Different stories, different monsters, different nightmares, I just want more!!

Honestly, the killer in The House On Sorority Row was completely justified. The sorority sisters accidentally shot and killed his mother, dumped her body in a dirty pool, THEN they put her in a dumpster and rolled her out to bury her, all while having a party. I don’t blame him for killing them at all.
