I’m back with more horror double feature recommendations for you! These are some of the films that I think would go great for your next movie night. Although they are not a part of the same franchise, there is at least one element that connects these films together to make it more themed. I hope you enjoy and let me know which horror films you think would make a great double feature!
Funny Games (2007) and Knock Knock

Connection: A Messed Up Duo Playing Messed Up Games
If you’re looking for a psychotic duo who terrorizes people just for the sake of their sick little games, this is the perfect double feature for you! Our first film features Peter (Brady Corbet) and Paul (Michael Pitt), a mysterious duo looking to play some Funny Games with an unsuspecting family. Our second film follows Evan Webber (Keanu Reeves), a family man who was home alone one night when he heard a Knock Knock at his door. He opened it to find two beautiful women, Bel (Ana de Armas) and Genesis (Lorenza Izzo), who were stranded and after sharing a passionate night with them, the women decided he must be punished for giving into temptation. These films are definitely not for the faint of heart. If you want to see crazies go crazy and a shock on every corner, these two have to be paired together!
Child’s Play (2019) and M3GAN

Connection: High Tech Dolls That Turn Deadly Quick
After I recently rewatched M3GAN, I realized just how similar it is to Child’s Play and I truly think they would work together as a double feature. In Child’s Play, After a difficult move to a new city, Karen Barclay (Aubrey Plaza) got her son, Andy (Gabriel Bateman) a defective artificial intelligence doll named Chucky for his birthday. In M3GAN, young Cady (Violet McGraw) tragically lost her parents in a car accident, and she was left with her aunt, Gemma (Allison Williams), who created an AI robot to help Cady with her loss. Both films have very similar elements. Both dolls have an immediate connection with their kids that turn into an obsessive need to protect them, with deadly intent. They’re both powerful enough to even control the electronics around them. Both films also don’t take themselves too seriously, they’re just killing and thrilling!
Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers and Serial Mom

Connection: Killers Who Can’t Stand People Without Standards
If you need a night filled with killer queens, goofy situations, and a lot of laughter in the slaughter, these two films would go so great together. Sleepaway Camp II follows, Angela Baker (Pamela Springsteen), a young and eager camp counselor who was so obsessed with the standards of the camp that she cut down anyone who didn’t meet her level of camp decency. Serial Mom follows Beverly Sutphin (Kathleen Turner), a seemingly typical housewife who started killing those who didn’t display what she considered societal norms. These characters are so similar to me! They loved order so much that they created a whole bunch of chaos in order to achieve it. They hid dark intentions behind their sweet smiles, and they killed anyone they didn’t like with LITERALLY anything they could find.
The Addams Family and The Munsters

Connection: Lovable And Goofy Horror Families
If you’re looking for a good double feature to watch with the family, these two are it! The Addams Family follows, you guessed it, the Addams family, a dark and eccentric bunch who desperately tried to find the patriarch, Gomez’s (Raul Julia) long lost brother, Fester (Christopher Lloyd). Hearing about Fester, Gomez’s con-artist friend, Tully (Dan Hedaya) convinced a loan shark’s son, Gordon to pretend to be Fester in order to get Gomez’s very large fortune. The Munsters gives us an immediate romance between two lonely souls looking for eternal love, Lily (Sheri Moon Zombie) and Herman (Jeff Daniel Phillips). Despite outside forces working against them, Lily and Herman knew they were destined to be together. Both of these films are filled with love, kookiness, and gorgeous scenery that really pull you into their worlds. These quirky adventures are safe for the whole family!
Rope and Strangers On A Train

Connection: Hitchcock, Granger, And Strangulation
Farley Granger was a hell of an actor in his time, and I think two of his best films would make a great double feature! In Rope, Granger played Phillip, a man who helped his friend commit what they believed to be the perfect murder. After strangling their former classmate to death, they hosted a dinner party that featured their victim’s family and loved ones. In Strangers On A Train, Granger played Guy Haines, a tennis pro who took a train and met Bruno (Robert Walker), a strange man who tried to coerce him in a plan to get rid of 2 people they want out of their lives. After Bruno got rid of Guy’s manipulative wive, he tried to force Guy to kill his strict father. Both of these films are filled with intensity, murder, fascinating discussions, and a few strangulations. It’s a great double feature for those who are a fan of the classics!
