My Top 10 Favorite Movies Of 2025

First off, I want to apologize for not posting for a good while! My brain has been dead since Christmas. As always, I either end the year or start the new year with a top 10 list of my favorite movie watches. Movie-wise, 2025 has just been amazing. Almost all of the films I watched in 2025 hit the nail on the head with their creativity, originality, and ability to leave a hell of an impact. I hope you enjoy and let me know your favorite movies released in 2025!!

10. The Naked Gun

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): Following his father’s footsteps, a detective works to solve a murder case and save his police department from closure.

This film was EXACTLY the kind of thing I needed this year. The goofiness and ridiculousness really helped get my mind off of everything. I don’t really remember a lot of the original trilogy, but from what I do remember, it seemed like they did a great job recapturing the style and randomness of it. When I found out about the minds behind the film, it didn’t surprise me one bit, I’ve always been a fan of their work. Leslie Neilsen was the parody king, but I think Liam Neeson did a fantastic job filling those big comedic shoes. I honestly haven’t laughed so much watching a film in a long time.

9. Thunderbolts

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): After finding themselves ensnared in a death trap, an unconventional team of antiheroes must go on a dangerous mission that will force them to confront the darkest corners of their pasts.

As you know, I’m not really big on superhero movies. What initially made me interested in this film was its sense of humor. I few clips of some of the funniest moments in the film convinced me to watch it. I think this film did a fantastic job at tackling real-life issues such as depression, anxiety, abuse, and trauma. Plus, it’s always a great thing when a band of misfits unite for the greater good. This one had a lot of action, a lot of humor, and a lot of heart. It had everything I needed in a superhero film.

8. Frankenstein

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): Dr. Victor Frankenstein (Oscar Isaac), a brilliant but egotistical scientist, brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.

I’ll admit, I wasn’t really interested in seeing this film at first. I know the Frankenstein story all too well, I figured I’ve had enough adaptations in my life. I’m so glad I gave it a chance because I was immediately hooked from the first bloody scene! This adaptation made me feel things none of the others did. I felt so much anger and sorrow over this story, everyone involved in this film did amazing at bringing this tale to life in a way that actually affected me. This is truly a film that must be seen by all.

7. The Monkey

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): When twin brothers Bill (Theo James) and Hal (Theo James) find their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths start. The siblings decide to throw the toy away and move on with their lives, growing apart over the years.

This one was a delightful surprise. I went into it knowing it was not a serious film. I don’t know if that had a hand in my enjoyment of it, but I was able to sit back and appreciate it for the goofy and gory masterpiece it was. It had fantastic and creative kills that reminded me of the Final Destination franchise. Plus, it had so many random and shocking moments, you can’t help but laugh. Theo James did a fantastic job giving us two separate performances. I wasn’t a huge fan of the ending, but the rest of the film is still worth the rewatch.

6. Until Dawn

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): A group of friends stuck in a time loop, where mysterious foes chase and kill them in gruesome ways, must survive until dawn to escape it.

I’m usually not a big fan of time loop movies. Seeing the same events happen over and over again is just not appealing to me. That’s where this one stands out from the rest. It was always different every night and it made the plot SO much more suspenseful and exciting! The fact that the characters didn’t know what they were going to be up against next really kept my attention. It had just the right amount of intensity without being overwhelming. I also love the nods to the original video game without being a direct adaptation. It was all just so thrilling and I’m so glad I gave it a chance.

5. Wolf Man

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): A family at a remote farmhouse is attacked by an unseen animal, but as the night stretches on, the father begins to transform into something unrecognizable.

It honestly blows my mind that a lot of people didn’t like this film. It gave us a fresh take on an old story. It reminded me so much of one of my favorite horror films, The Fly and when I learned it was actually inspired by it, it made me love this film even more. When I learned that Leigh Whannell put real life struggles and turmoil into this story, it made me look at it in a whole new way. It is such a heartbreaking and tragic tale, and I believe it deserves a second chance from audiences.

4. Weapons

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): When all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance.

This film is just so wacky in the best ways. One thing I really love about it is how we see the perspectives of each main character as the story and mystery progress. That type of storytelling was very reminiscent of Reservoir Dogs. This film had the perfect combination of mystery, amazing performances, intense scares, and actual laughs. I also want to give special props to the camerawork in this film, it was absolutely mesmerizing. I really love Zach Cregger’s way of storytelling and I hope he sticks with the horror genre for a long time!

3. Sinners

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.

This was so much more than a film, this was an experience. I love the clashing of the different cultures and the music that represents each one. I love that we know the stories of all of these characters without the film feeling too busy. Everyone really stole the show, but I have to give specific props to Michael B. Jordan, because he was so amazing playing the twins, that there were moments where I genuinely forgot it was one actor playing two roles. It was such an amazing and horrific vampire film with a lot of commentary and significance. It is truly a must-watch for all!

2. Together

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): Years into their relationship, Tim (Dave Franco) and Millie (Alison Brie) find themselves at a crossroads as they move to the country. With tensions already flaring, an encounter with an unnatural force threatens to corrupt their lives, their love, and their flesh.

The concept of this film affected me so much, that I had nightmares about it before I even saw it. I’m a huge fan of body horror films and this was one of the best ones. I was expecting a simple body horror film here, but I was NOT expecting it to be so creepy as well! The imagery here was truly unforgettable and it sends a chill down my spine every time I watch it. I always love it when stars mostly known for comedy dive into the world of horror and absolutely nail it. It was jaw-dropping, suspenseful, and just an overall blast.

1. Final Destination: Bloodlines

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): Plagued by a recurring violent nightmare, a college student returns home to find the one person who can break the cycle and save her family from the horrific fate that inevitably awaits them.

Yeah, there was no way this wasn’t going to be my top choice. I watched this film at least 6 times so far. I was just so obsessed with it. I loved the new direction it took by centering it around a family. The suspenseful moments were done so well and they didn’t skimp on the gore and creative kills. Plus, it was so emotional seeing Tony Todd give one last performance as Bludworth. Also, it was genuinely funny and it had a lot of heart. To me, this movie was perfect from beginning to end. There wasn’t a single thing I would’ve changed about it!
