Since the 13th fell on a Friday this month, I wanted to make a Friday The 13th/Women In Horror Month post. I’m a little late on it due to my schedule being switched around a bit. Today, I decided to rank all of the final girls in the Friday The 13th franchise! I made my ranking choices based on intelligence, bravery, personality, decision-making, and overall bada**ism (I know that’s not really a word, but I’m rolling with it). I hope you enjoy and let me know your favorite final girl in the franchise!! (MAJOR SPOILERS!!!)
12. Rennie Wickham

Rennie Wickham (Jensen Daggett) suffered from a severe fear of water most of her life. Wanting to push past it, she decided to join her classmates on a luxurious cruise to New York. What she didn’t realize was the source of her water fear, Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder), climbed aboard the ship and targeted her and her classmates. I really do like Rennie, but let’s face it, she was one of the biggest damsels in the horror genre. She had to be rescued out of every dangerous situation she was in. Even Jason Voorhees, THE VERY MAN TRYING TO KILL HER, had to rescue her from a couple of rapists. This girl was all flight and no fight. She didn’t even deliver the final blow to end Jason, that was all thanks to the underground sewage of New York.
Favorite Rennie Moment: When she walked away from the man who caused her fear of water in the first place.
11. Whitney Miller

After taking care of her sick mother for so long, Whitney Miller (Amanda Righetti) was pulled into a camping trip/weed hunt with her boyfriend and group of friends to get away for a little while. After Jason (Derek Mears) butchered those she loved, he realized she looked exactly like his mother, so he kept her captive for so long. There are two types of final girls: those who survive by fighting, and those who survive by being rescued by others. The only reason Whitney didn’t join her friends was because Jason kept her alive and the only reason she escaped him was because her brother saved her. She did find her fight in the end and used her resemblance to Jason’s mother to distract him long enough to he defeated.
Favorite Whitney Moment: When she stabbed Jason with his own machete.
10. Alice Hardy
Alice Hardy (Adrienne King) was one of the counselors helping to reopen the famously jinxed Camp Crystal Lake. Never wanting the camp to open after counselors let her son drown there, Pamela Voorhees (Betsy Palmer) targeted Alice and her new friends, intending to kill them. I know what you’re thinking: why on earth is the O.G. F13 final girl so low on this list? Alice was a fighter, yes, but she took FOREVER to finish off Pamela! She knocked her down and ran off over and over again, and it drove me nuts. It was like 4 different times at 4 different locations before she finally killed her. She had many opportunities to kill Pamela while she was knocked out, and she just didn’t have the instinct to do it.
Favorite Alice Moment: When she FINALLY killed Pamela.
9. Pam Roberts

Pam Roberts (Melanie Kinnaman) was the assistant director at Pinehurst Youth Development Center, a halfway house for troubled youths. After one kid brutally murdered another out of pure rage, the victim’s estranged father, Roy (Dick Wieand) completely snapped and used the legend of Jason Voorhees to exact revenge on everyone in and near the halfway house. I know this might be very odd to say, but I feel like there were so many characters in this film, that I feel like I don’t really know Pam, as a person, as well as the other final girls. What I do know about her was that she was caring, protective, and very tough when she needed to be!
Favorite Pam Moment: When she popped out and attacked Roy with a chainsaw.
8. Chris Higgins
When Chris Higgins (Dana Kimmell) first encountered Jason Voorhees (Richard Brooker), she was all alone in the woods and he attacked her. She wasn’t sure how she escaped him and the incident haunted her for a long time. A year later, she returned to her family’s cabin with her friends in an effort to move on, unaware that Jason was still there and ready to try again. I feel I was very harsh on Chris when I first watched this film. I felt that her friend, Debbie (Tracie Savage) deserved to be the final girl over her. However, Chris was a lot tougher than I gave her credit for! She ran when she needed to and she fought with what she had. Unfortunately, the whole experience completely broke her, which was completely understandable!
Favorite Chris Moment: When she hung Jason outside of the barn.
7. Lori Campbell
Lori Campbell (Monica Keena) was a typical high school student who had to deal with not one, but TWO, supernatural threats. She lived in a house where dream demon, Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), targeted a few of his victims. Needing the fear of people to regain the power to invade their dreams, Freddy woke Jason (Ken Kirzinger) up to kill teenagers so he could get the credit. Lori found herself caught in the middle of Freddy and Jason’s feud. She did have a lot of brave moments. The reason she’s pretty far down the list is because she made one MAJORLY stupid decision when she decided to tranquilize herself, making it nearly impossible to wake up and basically trapping herself in Freddy’s world.
Favorite Lori Moment: When she decided to stay and help Jason kill Freddy.
6. Trish Jarvis
Trish Jarvis (Kimberly Beck) lived near Camp Crystal Lake with her mother and little brother, Tommy (Corey Feldman). After Jason Voorhees (Ted White) butchered their neighbors, it was up to Trish and Tommy to end his reign of terror. I really love Trish. She was a protective big sister who had no problem putting herself in the middle of danger to protect Tommy. She really wasn’t the fastest at responding, nor was she the best fighter, but she certainly wasn’t a quitter! True, she had to be rescued by Tommy’s distraction in the end, but she still did her best before then.
Favorite Trish Moment: When she jumped out of the window to escape Jason.
5. Tina Shepard

Tina Shepard (Lar Park-Lincoln) was a young girl who had amazing telekinetic abilities. When she was a kid, she used her powers to kill her abusive father, and when she returned to the lake to try and bring him back, she instead brought Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder) back to life. I felt really bad for Tina. Her doctor was just using her and she was mocked by people who didn’t even know her. She was a very strong character and she had a lot of trauma and guilt to overcome. I do wish I knew more about her actual psychic connection with Jason and her premonitions.
Favorite Tina Moment: When she crushed Jason’s head with his own mask.
4. Jessica Kimble

Jessica Kimble (Kari Keegan) was cursed from birth. Her mother was Jason Voorhees’ (Kane Hodder) sister and after Jason’s body was destroyed, he had to seek out a member of his family to resurrect himself. Jessica was very tough, and she had to be. After Jason killed her mother, it was up to her and her alone to kill him. She had no problem throwing hands when she needed to, especially to protect her baby. She definitely had that killer Voorhees blood in her when she sent her uncle straight back to Hell!
Favorite Jessica Moment: When she stabbed the dagger into Jason’s chest.
3. Ginny Field

Ginny Field (Amy Steel) was a child psychology major who took a job as her boyfriend, Paul’s (John Furey) assistant at the Packanack Lodge. As the lodge was near Camp Crystal Lake, Jason Voorhees (Warrington Gillette) found his new batch of victims with Ginny, Paul, and their camp counselors in training. Ginny was the only one who truly understood Jason and what drove him. Using her psychological expertise, she was able to use his love for his mother to her advantage. Tricking him actually worked and Ginny came the closest to actually calming Jason down (even if it was just for a moment).
Favorite Ginny Moment: When she pretended to be Jason’s mother to trick him.
2. Rowan LaFontaine

Rowan LaFontaine (Lexa Doig) was a scientist who underwent experiments on Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder). Rowan concluded that if they couldn’t kill him, they could freeze him and stop his murder spree. In her attempt to freeze him, she ended up getting frozen herself and both of them woke up on a space ship in the year 2455. Rowan was a very intelligent survivor. She had to comprehend the fact that she was in the future, Earth was gone, and she had to once again deal with Jason. That’s a lot to deal with, but she never let that break her. She really held her own and continued to fight with her all in a world she no longer recognized.
Favorite Rowan Moment: When she successfully got Jason into the freezing pod.
1. Megan Garris

Megan Garris (Jennifer Cooke) was the rebellious daughter of Sheriff Mike Garris (David Kagen) and a camp counselor at the newly named Camp Forest Green. I’m surprised, but not really surprised, that Megan is my number 1 choice. I just LOVE her! She was the only one who believed and helped Tommy Jarvis (Thom Mathews) when Jason returned (not including his friend, Hawes, of course!). I know in the beginning, it was all a game to her, but when she realized things were actually serious, she really came through. She helped kill Jason and she saved Tommy when Jason tried to drown him. She was upbeat, adventurous, and reliable when s**t really hit the fan!
Favorite Megan Moment: When she sped away from the cops with Tommy’s head in her lap.
I wanted to give a special Honorable Mention to Kay-Em 14 (Lisa Ryder)! I wasn’t sure whether or not to include her in this ranking because she wasn’t human. However, she was a complete bada** who really held her own against Jason and it just didn’t feel right to leave her out of this article, so she gets her own section here!
