I’m back with part 2 of my favorite ‘Save The Day’ moments in horror films! I just LOVE that moment in a horror movie where all hope seems to be lost for our main characters and someone swoops in and saves the day. It’s just a surprising and exciting experience. I hope you enjoy and let me know your favorite ‘Save The Day’ moments in horror films! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
When Lewis And Drew Saved Bobby And Ed – Deliverance

Lewis (Burt Reynolds), Bobby (Ned Beatty), Ed (Jon Voight), and Drew (Ronny Cox) were four friends who wanted to take one last canoeing trip down the Cahulawassee River before it was dammed and turned into a big lake. It started out as a typical male trip filled with fishing, booze, and campfire chats. The second day took a turn for the worst. As they stopped off on the side of the river, Ed and Bobby were accosted by a couple of strange men with a gun. They raped Bobby and they were about to do the same to Ed. As they had their eyes on Ed, Ed noticed Lewis with his bow and arrow aimed straight at one of the men. He killed the man and the other one fled in a panic. I love that moment where we don’t even hear Lewis or Drew, we just see him ready to strike and save his friends!
When Rodger Saved Judy – Night Of The Demons
Rodger (Alvin Alexis) and Judy (Cathy Podewell) were a couple of friends who decided to spend their Halloween in a very creepy setting. Hosted by the school weird girl, Angela (Amelia Kinkade), the Halloween party was set at an abandoned funeral home that was also home to a deadly massacre. While doing a past-life séance, they unleashed the demons that possessed that house, and they soon found themselves possessed. One by one, each partygoer was either killed or possessed by the spirits until only Rodger and Judy were left. Since the spirits couldn’t cross running water, they had to make it across the giant wall surrounding the property to safety. With only a bit of barbed wire to hoist themselves up, they climbed as best at they could. Rodger made it over just fine, but Judy had a lot of difficulty. With the demons pulling her down and the wire cutting her hands, it seemed like Judy was doomed. However, Rodger got back on top of the wall and pulled her to safety! I really respect that he didn’t leave her behind and he really earned his place in this series.
When Carlos And His Crew Saved Seth And Kate – From Dusk Till Dawn

Seth (George Clooney) and Richard (Quentin Tarantino) Gecko were brothers who lived the criminal life. On the run from the police and the FBI, they decided to take a family hostage and use their RV to sneak down to Mexico. Once in Mexico, they headed to a bar in the middle of nowhere to meet their contact, Carlos (Cheech Marin). Their plan seemed to be going perfectly until they realized all of the people who worked there were bloodthirsty vampires, and they were all trapped. Bodies piled up, Seth lost his brother, and the family was down to one person, Kate (Juliette Lewis). Kate and Seth fought as best as they could, but they were outnumbered and almost out of ammo. That’s when Carlos appeared and his crew blew enough holes in the door to let them out and burn all the vampires alive! What made this moment so great is that so much happens in this film, that we completely forget about Carlos until he shows up. THAT’S what makes a great ‘save the day’ moment!
When Abby Saved Owen – Let Me In

Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee) was a lonely kid who had to deal with his parents splitting up and psychotic bullies at his school. One day, a mysterious girl, Abby (Chloë Grace Moretz), moved into his building. They connected after a couple of meets and Owen didn’t feel so alone anymore. After some time, Owen found out that Abby was a vampire and their friendship changed forever. After a cop tracked Abby down and almost killed her, Abby bled him dry and she realized it was time to leave before more cops find her. Owen was left all alone again, and after defending himself against one of the bullies before, they all wanted revenge. During swim lessons at the school pool, the bullies dragged Owen and threw him in. They kept his head underwater, drowning him. That’s when Abby crashed in and butchered every single one of them. Still underwater, Owen only saw a fraction of the massacre. Abby gave him the tools to save himself, and when he couldn’t, she stepped in and took care of it!
When Marty Saved Dana – The Cabin In The Woods

Marty (Fran Kranz) and Dana (Kristen Connolly) were a couple of college kids who traveled with their friends to a cabin in the middle of nowhere. What they didn’t realize was that they were pawns in a ritualistic sacrifice. After they accidentally chose how they would die, a zombie redneck torture family was released to do the deed. Dana’s friends were picked off one by one and she was all alone… or so everyone thought. As she was being thrown around by one of the zombies, the team behind the sacrifice was celebrating on a job well done. To everyone’s surprise, Marty wasn’t actually dead. He not only figured out he and his friends were intentionally on the chopping block, but he proved he wasn’t going down without a fight! He also wasn’t going to let his friend die. He stopped the zombie from killing Dana and (temporarily) saved the day.
