Happy Father’s Day!! Today, I’m posting part 1 of my favorite horror movie dads! These are the dads in the horror genre who have proven their strength and worth against the villains they came across. I hope you enjoy and let me know which dads would make your list! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
Doug Bukowski – The Hills Have Eyes

Whenever I think about the best horror movie dads, Doug (Aaron Stanford) is always the first one who comes to mind! On a road trip with his wife and her family, Doug’s vacation turned into hell when desert-dwelling cannibals mercilessly butcher half the family. When the monsters who killed his wife kidnapped his baby daughter, Doug stopped at nothing to get her back. He racked up his own body count as he tore his way through their town. He was beat down countless times but he never stayed down. He fought with everything he had and stood triumphantly with his baby girl in the end.
David Drayton – The Mist

David Drayton (Thomas Jane) was a man whose family was his whole world. When his town became engulfed in a strange mist filled with monsters, the main thing on his mind was protecting his son, Billy (Nathan Gamble) by any means necessary. When it seemed like their fates were unsure, Billy made David promise him that no matter what, he wouldn’t let the monsters kill him. When David and Billy became trapped and it seemed all hope was lost, David made good on his promise and gave his son a merciful and painless death. It was a very tragic but commendable decision.
Leigh Brackett – Halloween II

Leigh Brackett (Brad Dourif) was a very underrated father and guardian. After almost losing his daughter Annie (Danielle Harris), did everything he could to keep her safe. Also, when Laurie (Scout Taylor-Compton) lost her parents at the hands of Michael Myers (Tyler Mane), he stepped up to take care of her and did his best to make sure nothing happened to her. Although he was unsuccessful in protecting them from Michael, he was still a good, caring father through and through!
John Collingwood – The Last House On The Left

John Collingwood (Tony Goldwyn) was another father who stopped at nothing to protect his daughter, Mari (Sara Paxton). After Mari and her friend were kidnapped and she was left for dead, she found her way back to her parents. John was able to not only save her life, he and his wife, Emma (Monica Potter) took their revenge on her assaulters. He was caring, but also ruthless. A father who is capable of paralyzing a person and sticking their head in a microwave is definitely a man whose family you never mess with!
