‘Friends’ Episodes I Skip For Different Reasons – Part 1

Before I begin, I would like to apologize for not posting for a while. We live in such frustrating, stressful, and terrifying times right now, and it just didn’t feel right posting like nothing was happening. I was recently thinking about that moment in The Office when Jim described a family lost at sea in a lifeboat. One parent keeps rowing while the other parent plays games with the kids to make sure the kids are okay. What’s happening right now is despicable, it shouldn’t be ignored and it shouldn’t be swept under the rug. We all need an escape once in a while, and I want to be an escape for all of you, even if it’s for just a few minutes. Everyone, stay safe out there!!

Friends has always been and always will be my favorite TV series. However, you watch a show enough times, eventually you find yourself skipping episodes for whatever reason. Today, I’m sharing some of the episodes of Friends that I skip for different reasons. I hope you enjoy and let me know if you skip any episodes!

The One With Barry And Mindy’s Wedding

As Rachel tries to make it through Barry and Mindy’s wedding, she finds that it won’t be so easy. This episode is so frustrating to me! Rachel tried her best to be there for her friend and everyone just made it about what Rachel did. They made jokes at her expense and made her wear a humiliating dress to boot. If I was getting married and all people talked about was my husband’s ex, I would’ve been so upset. Rachel never should’ve agreed to go, and I’ll die on that hill. The other storylines in the episode were decent, but I just get so worked up about this wedding, I can’t even enjoy the other storylines!

The One With Joey’s Interview/Christmas In Tulsa/The Invitation/The Vows

I lumped all of these episodes together because I skip them for the same reason. When a show was just week to week, recap episodes were a fun trip to the past, but now that we have streaming and the opportunity to binge our favorite shows, those recap episodes are just not necessary. I just watched all of the previous episodes, I don’t really need a clip show of what I JUST watched. The only ones I tolerate are The One With Mac And C.H.E.E.S.E. and The One Where Chandler Gets Caught. The One With Mac And C.H.E.E.S.E. had a great wrap-around storyline and Phoebe trying to act is too funny to skip. The One Where Chandler Gets Caught is in the very last season, so somehow, that makes the recap a lot better to me. That recap had real nostalgia, remembering the beginning as we’re nearing the end.

The One With The Girl Who Hits Joey

While Joey struggles with an abusive girlfriend, Ross becomes a pariah in his new building after refusing to chip in for a going away party. This whole episode is just infuriating! First off, Joey has a girlfriend who literally hits him and his “friends” just laugh about it. Then when Joey tried telling her how much it hurt, she completely waved him off and continued to hit him. Rachel had to be hit by this girl herself in order to understand what Joey was going through! I think that is complete BS. Then, Ross’s whole building just wrote him off because he didn’t want to give $100 dollars to celebrate a man he didn’t even know. They are nothing but a bunch of toxic bullies. I don’t even like Ross but I’m on his side on this one!

The One With The Girl From Poughkeepsie

As Monica struggles at her new job, Joey offers to help her gain the respect of her staff. I will always HATE this episode! Seriously, why did they make Season 4 Monica suddenly afraid of confrontation? When she had a problem with something or someone, she just said it! Plus, that whole “hiring Joey just to fire him” thing was so ridiculous. Just fire the people actually causing the problems, or tell the owner about it! If I was the owner and I saw my employees put “Quit, B***h” on her chef’s hat, jobs would definitely be lost that day. The most controlling and confrontational character in the main friend group just let herself be bullied by these a**holes and I’m cool with never watching it again.

The One Where Chandler Doesn’t Like Dogs

After Phoebe was caught sneaking a dog into Monica and Chandler’s apartment, Chandler confessed that he wasn’t actually allergic to dogs, he just really didn’t like them. Honestly, there’s not really an actual reason I skip this one. Some episodes of this show I’ve seen so many times that I just got sick of them. We had Seasons 7 and 8 on DVD the longest so those are the episodes I saw the most times. This episode only had one moment that I really enjoyed. It was when Monica called Phoebe and Phoebe freaked out because she didn’t know how Monica could see them in that moment. When it comes to the rest of it, I’m perfectly okay with never watching it again.
