Welcome to the first day of Spooky Season!! It’s always a magical time of the year, especially for horror fans. Since it’s the first day, I wanted to start off light. For my first Spooky Season, I did a fun Horror Movie Tag. Then in 2023, I was curious if my answers would be different, so I did it again. Now, I bring you my 2026 update! I hope you enjoy and let me know what your answers would be!!
What is the first horror movie you remember watching?
2023 Answer: I don’t know why, but I always with Bride Of Chucky as my answer because that was the movie I was told was my first horror movie, but I don’t remember watching it all that time ago. The first horror movie I REMEMBER watching is either The Monster Squad or Silver Bullet.
2026 Answer: My answer is still The Monster Squad or Silver Bullet. I still have The Monster Squad V/H/S tape that I used to watch all the time as a kid. When I was very young, I remembered pieces of Silver Bullet but I never remembered that the pieces were from that film. I never forgot the bloody kite or Red burning his finger with his cigarette. When I bought Silver Bullet and re-watched it years later, it all hit me and I realized how much the moments from that film stuck with me all these years.
What is your favorite horror movie?
2023 Answer: IT is still one of my absolute favorites but Scream has reigned supreme once again as my all-time favorite horror movie!
2026 Answer: I really haven’t been watching Scream lately. Although I do still love it, I think Final Destination: Bloodlines has taken the crown this time. It’s one I think about all the time and I can throw on at any time. Actually, it might be a tie between this one and Evil Dead Rise. I just love them both so much.
What is your favorite horror movie sub-genre?
2023 Answer: The slasher sub-genre is still my favorite! There have been plenty of new additions that prove slashers aren’t dying any time soon!
2026 Answer: I will always be a Slasher Girl! Specifically, I love the 1980s slashers the most. It was such a magical time where the acting was bad, the special effects were hilarious, and the mystery elements and the red herrings never failed. I’m also a huge fan of anthology horror films and found footage films!
What sub-genre scares you the most?
2023 Answer: It’s definitely still paranormal/possession films. For a while, I thought I was getting to the point where I wasn’t getting scared by horror films anymore. That was definitely not the case. I still scare very easily, I’ve just been making my movie watching experiences safer haha. But yes, paranormal movies still scare me the most.
2026 Answer: Yes, it is still paranormal/possession films. There are quite a few paranormal movies in my collection that I downright refuse to watch right before bed because they set off my nightmares the most. Even the ones I’ve watched a million times will freak me out when I think about them. It’s just a terrifying subject to me.
What is the last horror movie you watched that actually scared you?
2023 Answer: It was definitely Evil Dead Rise. It didn’t scare me when I saw it in theaters, but that was because it was daytime and that fear washed away as soon as we left the theater. Once I threw it on in my living room after the sun went down, I almost turned it off and I ended up getting 2 Evil Dead Rise related nightmares that night.
2026 Answer: I would have to go with Obsession. It did an amazing job at making me jump with its unsettling atmosphere and unpredictability. It really kept me on my toes and I freaked myself out thinking about those scenes at 4:30 in the morning.
Who is your ultimate Scream Queen?
2023 Answer: My answer is actually a tie between Katharine Isabelle and Danielle Harris. Both have a place in my heart and they are always the first ones who come to mind when I hear the term Scream Queen!
2026 Answer: I still love Katharine Isabelle and Danielle Harris but I want to give another name for this article. I have to add Kathryn Newton to the list of my favorite Scream Queens. She has really risen in the genre in recent years and she’s quickly become one of those actresses where I’ll watch a horror film JUST because she’s in it!
Who’s your favorite on-screen kill?
2023 Answer: I want to purposefully give a different answer because there are so many good ones. I have to go with Pete Peters (John Waters) in Seed Of Chucky. It was very sad when the doll who tried to save him ended up causing such a horrible death as acid was spilled on his head. Even though it was an accident, it was a very unique and memorable kill.
2026 Answer: I once again want to give a different answer because there are so many to choose from. This time, I have to go with Jonah (Aaron Burns) from The Green Inferno. I recently re-watched the film and that scene once again haunts me. This poor character suffered to his last breath, feeling his eyes gouged out, his tongue cut off, and each of his limbs chopped off. It’s so hard to watch, yet you can’t look away.
What’s your favorite horror franchise?
2023 Answer: I’m still going with my rule of considering the franchise where I love every installment my favorite franchise. I didn’t love 2022’s Scream so I can’t really say Scream is my favorite horror franchise anymore. The crown is now passed onto the Hatchet franchise as I love every installment.
2026 Answer: I still have my rule where only a franchise where I love every single installment can be considered my favorite franchise. Although I found new appreciation for 2022’s Scream, Scream VI and Scream 7 prevent it from being my favorite franchise. The new favorites are the Hatchet franchise (of course), the Final Destination franchise (yes, I even like number 4), and the Friday The 13th franchise!
Who is your favorite horror director?
2023 Answer: My list of horror directors remains the same.
2026 Answer: I have to say Wes Craven, Rob Zombie, Mike Flanagan, Zach Cregger, James Wan, John Carpenter, Curry Barker, Jeff Wadlow, Sam Raimi, Lee Cronin, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Andy Muschietti.
