Welcome to my 10th post for Women In Horror Month! Admittedly, I was hit with a little blogger’s block today, but after a while, I decided to dedicate this post to some of my favorite performances provided by the women of Tales From The Crypt! These performances are one of the reasons that their episodes are some of my all-time favorites. I hope you enjoy and let me know your favorite Tales From The Crypt performance! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
Mary Ellen Trainor – And All Through The House

In this episode, Mary Ellen Trainor played a woman who killed her husband on Christmas Eve, and as she was covering up her crime, an escaped mental patient dressed in a Santa suit chose her as his next victim. After seeing Trainor play the innocent movie mom so many times, it was a contrasting and amazing surprise to see her play such a horrible character in this episode! She was perfectly cunning and wicked!
Amanda Plummer – Lover Come Hack To Me

Peggy (Amanda Plummer) was a sweet, timid newlywed who tried everything she could to have the perfect honeymoon with her gold digging husband. This was the first thing I’ve ever seen Plummer in. I was really intrigued by her performance! She went from a shy and seemingly innocent soul to a psychotic axe murderer seamlessly. Her shift from one personality to another was fantastic and unforgettable!
Shelley Hack – The Assassin

Shelley Hack played Janet McKay, a content housewife whose peaceful world was turned upside down when three CIA agents invaded her home to kill her and her husband. I love how how perky and upbeat Hack’s attitude was in this episode! Even faced with dangerous killers, she upheld a little house order and provided perfect manipulation that fooled both the audience and her captors!
Audra Lindley – Collection Completed

Anita (Audra Lindley) was a lonely housewife who adopted every animal who showed up at her doorstep. After her husband, Jonas (M. Emmet Walsh) was forced to retire, he went mad and killed and stuffed all of the pets she loved. Lindley took this role and brought us a sweet and sympathetic character. She really made me feel bad for her and when she snapped by the end of the episode, I found myself rooting for her.
Nina Siemaszko – Creep Course

Stella Bishop (Nina Siemaszko) was a typical bookworm/teacher’s pet, who was coaxed by her classmate and professor to be a sacrifice to an evil and vengeful mummy. I really love how she got the upper hand by pretending to be the mummy’s long lost love. She went from a shy wallflower to a confident hero who ended the curse and got revenge on her captor.
