My Favorite Horror Final Guys – Part 6

We’ve now reached Day 30 of Spooky Season!! It wouldn’t be Spooky Season on my blog if I didn’t talk about some of my favorite horror movie final guys. Through their wit, bravery, intelligence, and good natures, these guys have fought for their lives against all odds and won. I hope you enjoy and let me know what final guys you feel deserve to be in this series! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)

Marty Coslaw – Silver Bullet

Marty Coslaw (Corey Haim) was a paraplegic small-town boy who kept an upbeat attitude despite the problems happening around him. When a werewolf plagued the town and started to kill the residents, no one knew what was happening or who/what was doing it. Everyone tried their best to stop the beast, but it was Marty who figured out what was really happening. He survived the werewolf’s first attack by shooting a little rocket into his eye. Taking out his eye was the perfect way for Marty and his sister, Jane (Megan Follows) to figure out that the werewolf was Reverend Lowe (Everett McGill). Marty had to deal with Lowe trying to kill him in human form AND wolf form. Marty was smart and determined to end this nightmare. Even when people didn’t believe him, he knew it was up to him and his family to save the town.

Horace – The Monster Squad

Horace (Brent Chalem) always had difficulties in his life. It’s not enough that he was relentlessly bullied for his weight, but when a batch of brutal monsters rolled into town to look for an amulet that they could use to rule the world, it was up to Horace and his friends to stop them. Horace was understandably terrified and hesitant to be involved in something so big. However, when the moment came to step up, he prevailed. When one of the monsters, the grotesque Gillman popped up from under the street, it went straight for Horace. He tried to find shelter but he was locked out by his bullies and they refused to let him in. Horace grabbed a nearby gun and shot the creature dead. He stood up to the monster in his way and then he was able to stand up to the monsters in his life.

Detective Mike Norris – Child’s Play (1988)

Mike Norris (Chris Sarandon) was a no-nonsense cop who took down the Lake Shore Strangler, Charles Lee Ray (Brad Dourif). Little did he know, Ray didn’t actually die, he transferred his soul into a doll that was later gifted to a young boy, Andy (Alex Vincent). As people around Andy started to die, Norris suspected the young boy of committing these violent acts, not realizing that it was his new companion, Chucky, and that Chucky had Norris on his hit list as well. He finally realized the truth after surviving an attack in his car. He was a caring person who was able to help this family from the monster he thought he destroyed.

Doug – Cooties

Doug (Leigh Whannell) was the odd teacher who had no filter at the Ft. Chicken elementary school. His genius was brought out once the students at the school became infected with a virus that turned them into savage zombies. Doug did all of the dirty work the rest of the teachers didn’t want to do. He was able to successfully figure out how the virus only affected children and any adult bitten or scratched would just get a little sick. When they discovered that the virus was caused by infected chicken nuggets, he was convinced that he could develop a vaccine with one of the infected nuggets. We don’t see the outcome, but I’m very convinced he was able to do it. He’s definitely the type of guy you want on your team when the world is overrun by zombies.

Jonah – Siren

While trying to make his brother, Jonah’s (Chase Williamson) bachelor party a night to remember, Mac (Michael Aaron Milligan) heard about a crazy and wild party scene at a mysterious house. While there, Jonah found Lily (Hannah Fierman), a beautiful woman whose voice could put you in a trance of ecstasy. Once he realized that Lily was trapped in the house, Jonah thought it was a sex trafficking situation and decided to “rescue” her. This act of heroism quickly turned into chaos as Jonah saw that Lily wasn’t human, she was a man-eating demon who was now obsessed with him. This poor man lost one of his good friends, was raped by Lily, had to feel his best friend being tortured, and then he was held hostage by the people who they freed Lily from and had to watch his brother die. After everything he’s been through, he couldn’t get the happy ending he deserved as Lily didn’t want to let him go.
