Welcome to Day 27 of Spooky Season!! A while back, I started a series honoring some of the best horror movie villainesses. I figured now would be the right time to share a little love for some of the best villains in the horror genre! These villains are brutal, sinister, and wildly unpredictable. I hope you enjoy and let me know your favorite horror movie villain! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
John Kramer/Jigsaw – Saw Franchise
John Kramer (Tobin Bell) used to live a life of full contentment. He had a happy marriage, a son on the way, and many successful business ventures. Everything came crashing down when he lost his son at the hands of a drug addict. Not long after his loss, he was diagnosed with brain cancer. John decided to end his life by driving off of a cliff, but he survived. After that, he piqued an interest on the human will to live. That interest turned into an obsession as he began to target those he felt took their own lives for granted. He kidnapped them and forced them into these deadly traps in order to “test” them. He destroyed a lot of lives, and although some really deserved it, a majority of his victims were put through traumatizing traps all because they weren’t happy. He was an intelligent maniac who projected his own problems onto others in the most creative and diabolical fashions.
Victor Crowley – Hatchet Franchise

Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder) was cursed from the moment he was born. He was the product of an affair between his father, Thomas, and Thomas’s wife’s nurse, Lena (Erika Hamilton). Thomas’s wife cursed Victor while he was still in the womb. He was born with deformities and the minute Lena laid her eyes on him, she dropped dead, leaving him and Thomas alone. Victor spent most of his life isolated in, far from society. One night, a group of kids wanted to get a look at Victor, so they lit a couple of firecrackers to scare him out of his house. Unfortunately, the house caught on fire and Victor was trapped inside. When Thomas got home, he tried to chop down the door with an axe, but he accidentally hit Victor with the axe and killed him. For decades, the vengeful spirit of Victor Crowley haunted Honey Island Swamp, butchering anyone who dared to trespass in the most barbaric methods.
Doom-Head – 31

Doom-Head (Richard Brake) was a very psychotic person who was hired by rich sadists to participate in a sick game every Halloween. Every year, a group of people would be kidnapped and taken to an unknown location, where they must try to survive for 12 hours against a gang of deadly clowns: Doom-Head, of course, being one of them. Doom-Head took so much pride in his work, he didn’t even like his victims calling him a clown. He’d kill his victims in the most brutal ways possible, but not before giving a lengthy and pretentious monologue. He’d even give himself a little hype-up speech to himself before going to work. He acted like it was the job he was born to do… well, maybe it was.
The Butcher – Freaky

The Butcher (Vince Vaughn) started out as a typical brutal killer who invaded homes and carved up some teens. While killing the teenagers in one particular house, he noticed a strange dagger in a display case and he decided it was going to be his new weapon. What he didn’t realize was that it was a mystical dagger with strange powers. When he stabbed his next victim, a young girl named Millie (Kathryn Newton), the power of the dagger switched their bodies. It didn’t take long for The Butcher to figure out what happened, and when the police were looking for his body, he was able to hide in plain site and begin a knew killing spree as Millie. He was very intelligent and a true master of manipulation. Even when he had more physical limitations, that certainly didn’t stop him from causing carnage and bloodshed wherever he went!
Cooper Abbott/The Butcher – Trap

Cooper Abbott (Josh Hartnett) was a firefighter who used his axe swinging skills to chop up any poor soul he could find. While holding a man hostage in the basement of an abandoned house, he took his daughter to see her favorite performer, Lady Raven (Saleka Shyamalan) live in concert. What Cooper didn’t realize until it was too late was the concert was a trap set up by the FBI to take him down. Now, Cooper didn’t get this far in life without getting caught by being sloppy. He was calm, collected, and a hell of an improviser. Cooper considered every possible way out, maneuvered through everyone, and whenever he hit an obstacle, he thought quick on his feet to get out of it, out of the expense of others most of the time. He was so desperate to not get caught, he even took Lady Raven hostage, acting like he was doing this amazing thing for his daughter. He was a cold and calculated man who hated when there was a wrench in his plans.
