Rating Horror Movie Characters With The Same Name: Deborah – Part 1

I’m back with another installment of Rating Horror Characters With The Same Name! Today, I picked the name Deborah (and all its variants, Debbie, Deb, etc.) because it’s my mother’s name and I think she’ll really enjoy this post! I made my ratings mostly based on personality and morals. I hope you enjoy and let me know your favorite Deborah in horror films! (REMINDER: I’m sharing my opinions on the characters, NOT the actors who play them!) (MAJOR SPOILERS!!!)

Debbie Klein – Friday The 13th: Part III

My Rating: 10/10

Debbie Klein (Tracie Savage) was a young woman who joined her best friend, Chris (Dana Kimmell), and their friends on a weekend getaway to help her move on from being attacked the year before. What she didn’t know was that she and all of her friends would soon be targeted by the man who attacked Chris, local madman, Jason Voorhees (Richard Brooker). Debbie was a real ride-or-die, I just love her! She always kept an upbeat attitude and she did her best to help Chris any way she could. I always felt she should’ve been the final girl. I would’ve loved to see her fight for her life and her baby’s, but Jason never even gave her a chance.

Debbie Stevens – A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master

My Rating: 10/10

After killing the last of the Elm Street kids, nightmare demon Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) needed a new batch of victims. Using Alice’s (Lisa Wilcox) new acquired powers to pull people into her dreams, Freddy hunted down her friends and family. Her friend, Debbie Stevens (Brooke Theiss) was the bada** of the group. I severely underestimated her when I first saw her. I thought she was going to be a bully, but she was a tough and caring person. She was quick with the wit and quick with the weights. She also shared my VERY VALID fear of bugs, and Freddy did her so dirty here.

Debbie Jellinsky – Addams Family Values

My Rating: 4/10

After a new member was added to the Addams clan, Gomez (Raul Julia) and Morticia (Anjelica Huston) became desperate to hire a nanny to help with all of the kids. When all other options fell through, the perfect nanny, Debbie Jellinsky (Joan Cusack) stepped through the door. What they didn’t know was that she was a black widow who was planning on marrying Gomez’s brother, Fester (Christopher Lloyd) and killing him for his money. Now she was perfect at her demented craft, but under all of her manipulation, she was nothing but a spoiled brat who committed horrible acts if she didn’t get what she wanted. Fester did everything for her, but it still wasn’t enough and she acted like it was his fault! What a b***h.

Debi LeCure – Idle Hands

My Rating: 9/10

Debi LeCure (Vivica A. Fox) came from a long line of Druid priestesses whose purpose in life was to rid the world of evil in the form of possessed hands. When the demon possessed its latest victim, Anton (Devon Sawa), Debi had to track him down and stop the hand from making its official sacrifice. Debi was a straight bad-a**, and she knew her stuff! I docked a point because she tried killing Anton with the sacred dagger as if it was the only option, yet stabbing the hand itself seemed to work just fine. True, she didn’t have a lot of time to consider other options, but I like being nit-picky.

Deborah Myers – Halloween (2007)

My Rating: 7/10

Deborah Myers (Sheri Moon Zombie) had a very difficult life. She danced at night to provide for her 3 kids and her low-life boyfriend. On top of everything, her middle child, Michael (Daeg Faerch) started developing psychotic tendencies. Then on Halloween night, he completely snapped and killed his older sister, her boyfriend, and Deborah’s boyfriend. I feel really bad for Deborah, she tried so hard to keep it together, but everyone reaches their breaking point. She loses points from me, not because of what she did, but because she left her baby all alone with no plan to make sure she was safe. She committed suicide with no guarantee anyone will find and take care of her daughter.
