‘Seinfeld’ Episodes I Skip For Different Reasons – Part 1

Today, I came across my favorite Seinfeld meme page and they were sharing some of the least-liked episodes. This made me think about the shows that I love so much that have episodes I can’t help but skip for one reason or another. So, I decided to start a new series sharing the episodes of my favorite shows that I have no problem skipping, and I chose Seinfeld as my first show. I know this is just going to seem like negative, whiny, ranting, but I actually found it pretty relaxing as I got it all out of my system. I hope you enjoy and let me know if there are any episodes that you skip! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)

Male Unbonding

Not wanting to catch up with his childhood friend, Joel, Jerry tried every excuse he could think of to avoid him. After George suggested that he break up with him like he would a girl, it backfired tremendously and Jerry found himself in a deeper hole. This may be the pettiest reason I’ve avoided an episode, but when Joel talked badly to the waitress at the diner, the way he talked reminded me of someone in my life who absolutely terrifies me. The rest of the episode didn’t really have any moments I wanted to rewatch anyways, so it’s pretty easy for me to skip it all together and avoid being reminded of certain people.

The Cadillac

After receiving a big paycheck, Jerry decided to buy his father, Morty a brand new Cadillac. This landed Morty in the hot seat as President of the condo board of directors after Jack Klompus accused him of stealing funds for the car. I just really hated how all of this happened. Jack’s antics always drives me nuts but this was the episode I REALLY couldn’t tolerate him. I hated that Jerry just wanted to give his father a nice gift and Jack used it to replace Morty as president. I also hate that his parents had to move out of the condo entirely.

The Shoes

After Jerry and George sent the first draft of their pilot script to the president of NBC, Russell Dalrymple, he invited them to his place to discuss it. As he was running back and forth from the bathroom with food poisoning, he caught George staring at his daughter’s cleavage and decided to cancel the deal altogether. Come on, it’s no surprise why I can’t watch this episode. Two grown-a** men stared at a 15-year-old girl’s chest and tried to justify it at every turn because “cleavage is cleavage” and “every man stares when the opportunity comes.” THEN, Elaine aided in proving their point by getting Russell to look at her breasts, as if looking at a consenting adult woman was the same as looking at a little girl. The whole subject matter is just sick.

The Couch

While Poppy and Kramer tried to go into the pizza business together, Poppy and Elaine got into an argument about abortion. Poppy was so upset by the argument, that he sat on and peed on Jerry’s new white couch. The last time I watched this episode, it caused one of the worst arguments I ever had in my life. It was so bad, that I never had any desire to revisit this episode. I’m okay with that because there are plenty of episodes in this show that doesn’t cause societal arguments.

The Summer Of George

After noticing her co-worker, Sam walked so stiffly, Elaine and her other co-workers made a comment. When she told Sam what everyone’s been saying and suggested how to improve her walk, Sam began terrorizing and threatening her. I HATED how much all the men in this episode treated serious issues like a joke just because it involved two women. Every threat was treated as just “catty talk” and when she gets literally assaulted, the men are excited because they finally get to see a “cat fight.” I know comedy is comedy and I could be taking it all too literally right now, but subjects like that just aren’t funny to me. So, I have no problem just skipping it and moving on.
