Movie Twists That Genuinely Shocked Me – Part 2

I just LOVE a good twist! Today, I’m sharing part 2 of movie twists that genuinely surprised me. Sometimes a twist can be very predictable, but whether these twists were so well crafted or perfect in creating a complete 180, these moments actually shocked me. I hope you enjoy and let me know which twists surprised you the most! (MAJOR SPOILERS!!!)

What Really Happened That Night? – What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?

Blanche (Joan Crawford) and Jane Hudson (Bette Davis) always resented each other as they grew up. The fame, love, and attention made their relationship even worse. After a car crash left Blanche paralyzed, both sisters’ careers came to a screeching halt. Everyone believed Jane hit Blanche with her car and paralyzed her. Since she was so drunk that night, she believed it, too. She had to be Blanche’s caretaker for so many years and over time, her resentment, alcoholism, and delusions grew. She began to abuse and starve her sister and as Blanche was slowly dying, Jane’s sanity began to slip. To escape authorities, Jane took her sister to the beach and acted like they were having a fun and sunny beach day. As she was nearing her end, Blanche decided to finally tell the truth. Blanche was the one trying to kill Jane all those years ago. She tried running her over, but Jane got out of the way in time. Blanche paralyzed herself and crawled to the front of the car, framing her sister. It was such a jaw-dropping moment that I never saw coming!

Marie’s Side Of The Story – High Tension

Marie (Cécile de France) and Alex (Maïwenn) were good friends who took a trip to Alex’s family’s farm for a peaceful study session. Everything started out normal, but took a turn for the worst when a mysterious stranger (Philippe Nahon) killed Alex’s family, tied her up, and put him in his truck. Marie was able to avoid the stranger and sneak into the truck with Alex. When he made a stop at a gas station, she was able to run out and try to get help from the cashier. However, the stranger killed the cashier and drove off, leaving Marie. After a chase through empty streets, Marie caught up with the stranger and after a lengthy fight, she killed the stranger and went to rescue her friend. When authorities arrived at the gas station, they played back the tape and we discover there was no stranger at all. It was all Marie. She killed Alex’s family and kidnapped her, and everything we saw before was how Marie saw the events. She was so obsessed with Alex, there’s a chance she never even knew her at all. She could’ve imagined their whole friendship, just like she imagined being the hero.

The Real Game Master – Cry_Wolf

Owen Matthews (Julian Morris) was the new student at a posh boarding school. On his first day, he met Dodger (Lindy Booth), the beautiful leader of the popular kids. After the body of a young woman was found in the woods, Owen and Dodger decided to prank the whole school, making everyone believe she was killed by a serial killer, known as The Wolf. The game quickly turned serious as a mysterious handle calling themselves The Wolf started terrorizing the group of friends. After bodies started piling up, Owen believed the killer was their teacher, Mr. Walker (Jon Bon Jovi). There was a scuffle and Owen shot Walker in self defense. That’s when he realized no one was actually dead and he killed Walker all because of a prank. But it wasn’t a prank at all, it was all a part of Dodger’s REAL plan. You see, she was having an affair with her teacher, but when she found out he was sleeping with another woman, she shot and killed her. She then planted the gun to frame Walker, used her friends to scare Owen, and used Owen to kill Walker for her. She was amazingly deceitful and cunning!

Who’s Hunting Who? – Family

Harold Thompson (George Wendt) was a deranged man who wanted the perfect family. He killed people and turned their skeletons into his wife, parents, and young daughter. When a new couple, David (Matt Keeslar) and Celia Fuller (Meredith Monroe), moved across the street from him, he felt an immediate attraction to Celia. As time passed, his perfect “marriage” with his “wife” began to falter. After David disappeared, Harold thought it was the perfect time for a new wife. He invited Celia to dinner and when he gave her a tour, she found all of the skeletons he’s been treating like family. He then tried to kill her, but that’s when David appeared behind him and knocked him out. When he came to, he was bound in a homemade surgical room. This whole time, we’re made to believe Harold was stalking and hunting his innocent neighbors. In reality, the little girl he killed and turned into his “daughter” was actually their daughter, Sarah (Haley Guiel). They were planning and playing him this entire time in order to get revenge for their daughter. It was a hell of a twist that turned this into one of my favorite revenge flicks!

Gemma, If You’re There… Then Who’s Driving? – Smile 2

Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) was a famous pop star who was working on her major comeback tour one year after finishing rehab. As she was rehearsing, she desperately needed something for her injured back, so she snuck to her old hookup, Lewis (Lukas Cage) for some Vicodin. This decision led to the destruction of her world as Lewis was plagued with a demon that possessed him and made him commit suicide in front of Skye. Ever since, she couldn’t tell what was real and what wasn’t. Looking for some sort of normal, she contacted her friend, Gemma (Dylan Gelula), who she had a horrible falling out with. It didn’t take long for Gemma and Skye to reconnect like their friendship never fell apart. As things got worse, she and Gemma started driving to a man who said he could help. While in the car, Skye started getting a phone call… from Gemma. When she answered the phone, she realized Gemma was never actually with her, it was the demon all along. It didn’t surprise me that Gemma wasn’t really with Skye in the car, but when I realized Gemma was never there the entire film, my jaw DROPPED!
