Welcome to Day 11 of Spooky Season!! Today, I’m sharing part 2 of horror legends I wish I got the chance to meet. These actors were a big staple in my horror movie obsession, and I wish I got the chance to meet them before they passed away. I hope you enjoy and let me know which horror legends you got the chance to meet!
Leslie Jordan (1955-2022)

Leslie Jordan seemed like a ray of sunshine that brightened every room he walked into. The first thing I ever saw him in was Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday. He was so fun and he had a wonderful energy in the film. I was definitely not the only one completely devastated after hearing about his passing. He was such an under-appreciated gem.
Bill Paxton (1955-2017)
I know when you’re thinking about horror films, Bill Paxton is most likely not the first name that comes to mind. However, he left plenty of memorable performances in the genre with Aliens, Club Dread, and he even directed his own with Frailty. Seeing him in a movie is always such a wonderful treat. I’m not surprised that his personality seeped out into all of his roles. He was nowhere near a boring presence and he is severely missed.
Ruth Gordon (1896-1985)

Ruth Gordon was a very outgoing and spry actress. She completely stole my heart with her performance in Rosemary’s Baby. The film definitely wouldn’t have the same impact without her. Plus, hearing how she starting following her dreams and acting later in life was really inspiring. I would’ve loved to have known her in real life.
Keith Knight (1956-2007)

Keith Knight was another actor who stole my heart with just one performance. He was one of the reasons I loved My Bloody Valentine so much. In the film, he was like the big brother, wiser than his peers type and I wonder if he was like that in real life. I feel like he had a heart of gold and he had a fun personality.
Piper Laurie (1932-2023)
Piper Laurie gave us an unforgettable performance as Margaret White in Carrie. I love that she considered the film to be a dark comedy so she brought a more dramatic flair to the role. The way she was able to just have a blast with her character makes me wonder if she was fun in real life.
Anton Yelchin (1989-2016)

Anton Yelchin was a Scream King in the making. I loved seeing him in Fright Night and Thoroughbreds. He also starred in Odd Thomas, which I still need to see. His life was tragically cut short, and I hate that we’ll never get to see how far his talent would’ve taken him.
Raul Julia (1940-1994)

Raul Julia was born to play the part of Gomez Addams. Watching him in The Addams Family and Addams Family Values, I just couldn’t see him as anyone else. You could tell watching the films that he just had a blast being Gomez. I could imagine him making appearances at the character today if he was still with us.
Glenn Shadix (1952-2010)

Glenn Shadix was a major staple in my childhood. I grew up watching him in Beetlejuice, Dunston Checks In, and even in an episode of Seinfeld. He was sassy in all of his roles and his voice alone was unforgettable. I would’ve loved to see him return in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
Dyanne Thorne (1936-2020)

Dyanne Thorne was truly an underrated talent. She played a string of sadistic leaders in films like Ilsa: She Wolf Of The SS and Wanda: The Wicked Warden. It broke my heart to not only find out she passed away, but she passed away weeks before I found out because no one in the horror community talked about it.
John Saxon (1936-2020)
John Saxon was another big part of my childhood. When I was a kid, I was obsessed with CSI and he was in one of my all-time favorite episodes. Then I saw him in the Nightmare On Elm Street films and Black Christmas. He was a legend and he was always one of those actors who I was excited to see in a film.
