Worst Horror Movie Cops – Part 1

If you’re ever in any kind of trouble or danger, these are NOT the cops you want helping you. Today, I’m sharing some of the worst horror movie cops. Whether they are corrupted and evil, or just terrible at their jobs, these are some of the absolute worst cops in the horror genre. I hope you enjoy and let me know which cops you feel deserve to be in this series! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)

Georgie & Dim – A Clockwork Orange

Before they became police officers, Georgie (James Marcus) and Dim (Warren Clarke) were part of a gang who spread chaos wherever they went. They robbed, raped, assaulted, and terrorized anyone unfortunate enough to be in their path. After they set up their leader, Alex (Malcolm McDowell), Alex spent a few years locked up. When he was released, he stepped into a world that wanted nothing to do with him. When he came across his old friends, he saw that they were now authority figures. They gave Alex a proper droog welcome by cuffing him, drowning him, and beating him with a nightstick. I’m not saying Alex didn’t deserve what he got, but it’s scary that a couple of psychopaths like Georgie and Dim could become police officers. People like them should NOT have that kind of power.

Sergeant Nash – Black Christmas

When the sisters of Pi Kappa Sigma started getting harassing phone calls, the danger escalated when one of their sisters, Clare (Lynne Griffin) disappeared. Sergeant Nash (Doug McGrath) was the first officer the sisters went to, and he was just awful. First off, he didn’t take Clare’s disappearance seriously and just assumed she shacked up with some guy. Then when they traced the calls and realized the harasser was in the sorority house, he was given clear instructions to tell one of the sisters, Jess (Olivia Hussey) to walk right out the door and NOT mention that the caller was in the house. Did he do what he was supposed to? Nope! Nash was gullible, a horrible listener, and an overall d**k. Luckily, the sisters had a competent officer on their side.

Detective Jack Scagnetti – Natural Born Killers

Jack Scagnetti (Tom Sizemore) was a psychotic detective who was hellbent on finding one of the country’s most dangerous couples, Mickey (Woody Harrelson) and Mallory (Juliette Lewis) Knox. This guy was a straight-up whack job. He strangled an innocent woman just for the hell of it. Then, when Mickey and Mallory were finally caught, he snuck into Mallory’s cell, actually believing he had a shot with her. He told her all about how he killed someone, thinking that would impress her. He was also planning on killing Mickey and Mallory on their way to another facility. He had no problem killing, torturing, and assaulting on and off the job. The dude was corrupted AND terrible at his job.

Officer Gutierrez – Disturbia

After Kale (Shia LaBeouf) tragically lost his father, he punched his Spanish teacher for bringing him up and was placed on house arrest for 3 months. Officer Gutierrez (Jose Pablo Cantillo), who happened to be his Spanish teacher’s cousin, wanted first dibs on Kale the minute he screwed up with his house arrest. When Kale started to suspect that his next door neighbor was a serial killer, he tried everything he could to prove it. What drives me nuts about this cop is that he wanted first dibs on arresting Kale, but when Kale actually needed the cops to get there as quickly as possible, suddenly this guy is not in a rush! I know that may not make him the WORST cop, but I still feel like he belongs on this list for putting his personal vendetta above his actual job.

Sheriff Storch – I Spit On Your Grave (2010)

Sheriff Storch (Andrew Howard) was the very definition of “scum.” After some local boys broke into the cabin of a young woman, Jennifer Hills (Sarah Butler), she ran out and ran into Storch and his friend. Storch assured her she was safe and took her back to the cabin to get to the bottom of things. Instead of helping her, Storch helped bring her back to the dangerous group. Together, they assaulted her and almost killed her. Storch was a “God-fearing” man who had no problem doing unspeakable things to an innocent woman. He also had no problem talking on the phone to his daughter while Jennifer was being raped 3 feet away from him. He was a despicable man who took advantage of his position to lull Jennifer in a false sense of security. He got exactly what he deserved.
