I’m back with part 7 of horror movie characters I wish didn’t die! Whether I really liked the characters or I thought they deserved better endings, these are some of the characters I wish didn’t meet a horrifying end. Matt – Slumber Party Massacre II

Years after surviving a serial killer’s rampage on her street, Courtney Bates (Crystal Bernard) was ready to move on with her life. She was in a band with her best friends and the boy she really liked, Matt (Patrick Lowe), liked her back. As they planned a slumber party weekend bash/band rehearsal, Courtney began to have nightmares about the killer coming back and finishing what he started. As they made it to their friend, Sheila’s (Juliette Cummins) new house, her dreams turned into hallucinations and she couldn’t figure out what was real and what was all in her head. I don’t know what it was about Matt exactly, but I just wanted him to live. When he got to the house, he was so sweet and he tried his best to be helpful. He was there for Courtney when she was falling apart, and he even got her a birthday cake to cheer her up. I would’ve liked to see how he would do actually fighting the killer, but he never even got the chance.

Becky – Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer

After getting out of a horrible relationship, Becky (Tracy Arnold) moved in with her brother, Otis (Tom Towles) and his friend, Henry (Michael Rooker). What could’ve been a fresh start ended up being the start of the end of her life. Poor Becky dealt with monsters her whole life. Her father sexually abused her and she ran into the arms of another abusive man just to get away from him. Then she had to deal with her own brother lusting after her after she got away from her ex-husband. When she believed she found someone she could connect with, he turned out to be a serial killer who mostly targeted women. She trusted all the wrong people and she shouldn’t have had to pay for it with her life. She should’ve grabbed her daughter and high-tailed it as far away from all the men in her life and never looked back!

Barney Whitmore – Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland

Barney Whitmore (Cliff Brand) was a police officer who arrested the bloodthirsty maniac, Angela Baker (Pamela Springsteen) when she was a kid. Years after being locked up, Angela was released, she changed her name, and she got herself a job as a camp counselor. Angela went on to brutally butcher all the counselors and campers at that camp, and that included Barney’s son, Sean (Tony Higgins). Feeling guilty about not spending enough time with his son, Barney decided to make up for it by volunteering at a new camp… that Angela ended up sneaking into. I’m not going to lie, I was really rooting for Barney to avenge his son here. I was looking forward to the confrontation between him and Angela, but it was over just as quickly as it started. He was the only good counselor at the camp, he genuinely wanted to be there for these kids. I think he deserved a lot better.

Laurie Strode – Halloween: Resurrection

After surviving multiple encounters with her psychotic brother, Michael Myers (Chris Durand), Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) changed her name and lived in paranoid peace for 20 years. One Halloween night, Michael finally found her and her family. She fought hard and when Michael was believed to be dead, she didn’t buy it one bit. She stole his body and after crushing him with the coroner’s van, she chopped his head off once and for all… or so she thought. Turns out Michael switched places with a poor paramedic and when Laurie realized she killed an innocent man, she was locked away in an asylum. Michael eventually found her there, but she was ready. She was so close to killing him, but he just HAD to remind her of the mistake she make! I really don’t like how Laurie’s story ended in this timeline. She really deserved better. I think I would’ve preferred her not appear in this film at all. That way I could imagine she and her son finally had the peaceful life they deserved.

Ben – The Last Cabin

Ben (Brendan Goshay) was a part of a location scouting group for a film production. He and his team hit place after place with no such luck for a shooting location. After FINALLY finding a beautiful cabin in the middle of the woods, they believed they ended their search. What they didn’t know was that the cabin would soon be surrounded by psychotic locals with creepy masks and an urge to brutally slaughter everyone they come across. I honestly really liked Ben! He was like the big brother of the group. He was brave, he was protective, and he had no problem saying what he was feeling. He kind of reminded me of my brother. He took control when s**t hit the fan. When the killers said they just wanted his friend, Hope (Isabella Bobadilla), he shut that down immediately. He fought when he had to and I was really hoping he’d make it to the end.
