Top Secret is one of my all time favorite comedies and one of the reasons is due to its catchy songs. I’ve been wanting to rank Nick Rivers’ (Val Kilmer) songs for a long time, and I finally got around to it! I hope you enjoy and let me know your favorite Nick Rivers song!!

6. Straighten The Rug

After being accused of being a traitor to the rebellion, Nick went over to the jukebox to prove he’s exactly who he said he was. This song gets stuck in my head so many times, and not in a good way. The scene itself was great, but the song, especially the ending, just stays with me and I’ll find myself thinking about just that one moment over and over again.

5. Spend This Night With Me

During Nick’s second (and last) concert song, Nick personally serenaded the crowd and even pulled an eager girl on stage. The song itself is ok, I love Val Kilmer’s voice here. However, I liked the performance way more than the song. The way his backup singers had to stop him from killing himself in various ways because his love was too strong was so great.

4. Are You Lonesome Tonight

While sharing childhood stories, Nick told Hillary (Lucy Gutteridge) all about how he got lost in the mall and got his start by creating a tune for Macy’s. This one was forgettable to me for a long time. Listening to it again, I found new appreciation for it. It had great lyrics and a nice, smooth tune. I love that it’s a commercial jingle and love song at the same time.

3. Skeet Surfing

While the nazis scrambled to find a new performer for their plot, they found and played one of Nick’s records. As they gloated about their plan, the record started playing one of Nick’s biggest hits, Skeet Surfing. This one is such a blast (literally)! I love how unique and hilarious the subject matter is. It’s a very catchy beach tune with a hilarious music video to boot.

2. Tutti Frutti

Mistakenly believing he was being asked to perform on the spot at a fancy German restaurant, Nick stole the stage and turned the place upside down with this hit. This one was really close to being my top choice. It was a great song that can really hype a person up. I know it’s not a Nick Rivers original, but I just HAD to include it!

1. How Silly Can You Get

To avoid an international incident, the nazis decided to hold off Nick’s execution and allow him to do his concert for the women of Germany. How Silly Can You Get was his first song, ready to kick off the concert of their lives. This song is always one of the reasons I want to throw this movie on! I love how catchy it is and it may not be his best song, it will always be my personal favorite.
