I really enjoy the era where comedy movies based off of Saturday Night Live skits were made! Although they weren’t all winners, I still think it was a great idea to expand some of these stories into features. Today, I’m sharing my top 3 favorite comedies based on Saturday Night Live skits. I hope you enjoy and let me know your favorite SNL movie!!
3. Wayne’s World

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): Two slacker friends try to promote their public-access cable show.
I’ll admit, it took me a long time to appreciate how great this movie is. I love how random it is and I love Mike Myers and Dana Carvey’s chemistry. Plus, it’s very meta and great at the fourth-wall break, and you know I’m a huge fan of that. I love the music and it has just my kind of humor. It’s a hilarious concept with an epic execution!
2. A Night At The Roxbury

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): Two dim-witted brothers dream of owning their own dance club or at least getting into the coolest and most exclusive club in town, The Roxbury.
This one is just too great. Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan were fantastic together and I love their story. I think they created a great movie from a skit where no one even speaks. The whole family had great chemistry, especially with Dan Hedaya. Each character was hilarious in their own way and this is just a fun movie I can watch at any time!
1. Coneheads

Synopsis (provided by IMDb.com): Aliens with conical crania crash-land on Earth.
This one will always hold a special place in my heart. I grew up with these crazy Coneheads and I think the film still holds up to this day. It had cameos galore that were a special treat in every scene. Also it surprisingly still has elements and subject matters that still hold up to this day. I love everything about it, it really takes me back to my childhood every time I watch it.
