I’m back with part 7 of random thoughts I had while watching or discussing one of my favorite shows, Friends! I haven’t done these in a while because admittedly, it’s been a while since I had a proper Friends binge. These are some of the things I recently thought about regarding the show and characters. I hope you enjoy!! (POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!!)

• I love that when Monica (Courteney Cox) tried to pass off Phoebe’s (Lisa Kudrow) sock bunny as her own, Phoebe didn’t mention that she already showed it to Chandler (Matthew Perry), knowing full well that Chandler would know it wasn’t hers.

• I also love that Phoebe and Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) waited until Chandler left Ross’s (David Schwimmer) apartment before they popped out from behind the curtains to scare Ross. They just eavesdropped on their whole conversation before jumping out!

• Ok, let’s face it. Ross and Rachel DEFINITELY would’ve heard the gang hiding out in Monica’s room during their breakup. They spoke at a normal volume, sometimes even yelled. They also spoke right up against the door. PLUS, you might notice the window above Monica’s door was wide open. There’s no way Ross or Rachel didn’t hear a single thing coming from that room.

• I’m sorry, I just can’t say that Mark (Steven Eckholdt) was a bad guy. His biggest crime was getting Rachel a job when she was with Ross. How dare he?! Yeah, he asked her out soon after she ended things with Ross. So what? At least he waited until she was single, which is better than what most of the characters in this show have done. We have cheaters, groomers, and pedophiles in this show, but you’re telling me Mark is the biggest villain? Even if he did want to be with her since the beginning, which he didn’t (a lot of people seem to forget that he had a girlfriend when Rachel started working there), so what? He never did anything about it until she and Ross were no longer together. Then when Rachel was clear she was only going out with him to get back at Ross, he made a couple of jokes then backed off out of her life.

• I was recently told that I took Ross’s “just a waitress” comment out of context like Rachel did. Here’s why I don’t believe I did. I made a comment saying Ross never respected Rachel or her jobs and I used this moment as an example. True, he was talking about how he and Julie (Lauren Tom) had more in common because they were both paleontologists, but he still said Rachel was “just a waitress”, like she couldn’t possibly learn more about paleontology from him so they could discuss it together. Plus, he still used it as a reason to not be with her. How could I take it out of context if it’s literally what he said? Even if he was digging so hard into his brain to find things he thought were wrong about her (which he didn’t, he came up with those reasons pretty quickly), it’s still a very crummy thing to do to someone you claim you love. I’m sorry, Ross has no redeeming factors when it comes to being a boyfriend, and I say once again that Rachel should’ve stayed on the plane.

• I recently saw someone’s theory that Carol (Jane Sibbett) and Susan (Jessica Hecht) intentionally got Ross to impregnate Carol, and I thought it was definitely interesting. If that were true, then to me, that would explain why Carol and Susan didn’t want the baby to have Ross’s last name. They saw him as just the sperm donor. However, if they intentionally planned to get a baby from Ross, then why would Carol even bother telling Ross about her pregnancy? Could it be guilt for using him? It could also be because Carol still cared about him enough to tell him some of the truth. I had never heard of this theory before, I always believed that Carol cheated on Susan by having one last fling with Ross.
