Songs That Horror Films Introduced Me To – Part 1

Welcome to Day 18 of Spooky Season! A while back, there was a debacle with Stranger Things using music by Metallica and Kate Bush. This led to a lot of gatekeeping and a lot of fans angry that their favorite music was being introduced to a younger audience through a tv show. As someone whose music playlist includes a good chunk of songs introduced to me through tv and movies, I found the criticism rather harsh. People are introduced to things in different ways. This whole thing made me think of all the songs that horror films introduced me to, and I decided to call myself out today. These are songs I never knew existed until I watched these horror films. Obviously, I’m excluding songs from horror musicals considering they were made specifically for their films. (NOTE: For this series, I’m including songs in the films and songs in the films’ trailers.)
