It is pretty unusual that a horror movie character lasts more than 2 films. Today, I share part 2 of horror movie characters who survived their first film just to get killed in their second. I really wish I picked a shorter title for this series, but that’s as clear as I can make it. Whether good or bad, these characters made it to the end credits of their first film, but weren’t so lucky when we saw them again. I hope you enjoy and let me know which characters you think should be in this series! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)
Lila Crane – Psycho/Psycho II

After her sister, Marion (Janet Leigh) stole $40,000 from her work and disappeared, Lila Crane (Vera Miles) worked with Marion’s boyfriend, Sam (John Gavin) to figure out what happened to her. With the help of a private investigator, they found out the last place she stopped at was a seedy motel, and the owner, Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins), killed her. He almost killed Lila too, but he was stopped and arrested. He was declared insane and locked away. 20 years later, Norman received a clean bill of mental health and he was released back into the world, to Lila’s dismay. Hellbent on proving he hadn’t changed, Lila and her daughter, Mary (Meg Tilly), manipulated things to make him believe he was going insane again. However, Lila didn’t know that there was another psycho stalking the motel grounds. She was killed by a woman claiming to be Norman’s mother and tucked away in Norman’s cellar. Her obsession with revenge led to her joining her sister after all these years.
Brooke Feinstone – The Dentist/The Dentist 2

Brooke Feinstone (Linda Hoffman) was married to beloved dentist, Dr. Alan Feinstone (Corbin Bernsen). When Alan supposedly left for the day, he had to return home, and there, he caught Brooke performing fellatio on their pool guy. Alan completely snapped and he tortured and murdered his staff and clients. When Brooke met him at his office for their date, he drugged her, messed up all of her teeth and cut out her tongue. He was eventually caught and put away. When he later escaped and left the state, Brooke decided it was time to get him back. She hired a private investigator to travel the country and track him down. He ended up finding Alan in Paradise, Missouri with a new name, new practice, and new body count. When Brooke and Alan reunited, she was SO close to returning the favor by cutting out his tongue, but she was stopped by Alan’s new love, Jamie (Jillian McWhirter). As Alan tried to kill Jamie and Brooke, Jamie ended up accidentally killing Brooke. Brooke waited all that time for her revenge and she was so close to getting it, it’s so frustrating seeing her die with no justice.
Rondo Chavez – The Devil’s Rejects/3 From Hell

After a few members of the psychotic Firefly family escaped a police raid at their house, Sheriff John Quincy Wydell (William Forsythe) was hellbent on tracking them down and killing them for murdering his brother. Taking matters into his own hands, John hired two criminals, Billy Ray (Diamond Dallas Page) and Rondo (Danny Trejo), A.K.A. The Unholy Two, to track them down. The trio ended up finding the family at a known friend’s house. They kidnapped the family and dragged them back to their house to be tortured and killed. They didn’t die, of course, but they were later arrested and put away for a long time. Years after they were sentenced, one of the family members, Otis (Bill Moseley) ended up on the same work detail as Rondo. While Rondo didn’t remember him, Otis certainly never forgot him. With the help of his brother, Otis killed two birds with one stone by killing Rondo and escaping police custody. To this day, I still don’t understand how Rondo could forget kidnapping a man like Otis Driftwood.
Ben Schaefer – Hatchet/Hatchet III

Wanting to get his mind off a bad breakup, Ben (Joel David Moore) traveled with his friends to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. Realizing that the party scene wasn’t helping him, he decided that a night boat tour of Honey Island Swamp might do the trick. After their boat sunk, Ben and the rest of the tourists realized they were stuck in the middle of nowhere, and the angry spirit of deranged killer, Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder) was now targeting them. Crowley picked them off one by one until Ben and another survivor were left. They thought they killed Crowley, but at the last minute, he ripped Ben’s arm off and severed his throat. Two nights later, Crowley massacred cops and paramedics in the swamp, and one paramedic ran through the swamp in a panic. He ended up running into the boat Ben was lying in, and Ben popped up, hoping to finally get rescued. That’s when Crowley gave him a final blow to the head, killing him. This was one of the most surprising moments, because Ben is supposedly dead this whole time. Turns out he was alive for 2 days before finally being put out of his misery.
Annie Brackett – Halloween/Halloween II

Annie Brackett (Danielle Harris) was a normal teenager who was looking forward to spending her Halloween night with her boyfriend. She convinced her best friend, Laurie (Scout Taylor-Compton) to babysit the kid she was supposed to so she could have her little get-together. What she didn’t realize was that Laurie’s psychotic brother, Michael Myers (Tyler Mane) was hunting her down and killing everyone who stood in his way. He savagely killed Annie’s boyfriend, then he cut her up all over the place and left her for Laurie’s bait. After Michael was supposedly killed, Annie and Laurie tried their best to move on from what happened. Their friendship took a big strain as Laurie began to spiral and Annie tried to pick up the pieces. Two years after they were attacked, Michael tracked them down once more. As Annie was home alone, Michael stabbed her multiple times. Annie was a fighter and she was able to see Laurie one last time before she died. Annie suffered so much over things that had nothing to do with her, and she deserved her peace!
