I’m thinking about love today! I’ve been thinking about all of the wedding scenes in some of my favorite movies and I thought I would share some of my favorites with you. Whether the weddings were perfectly executed or they went spectacularly wrong, these are some of the wedding scenes that stuck with me the most. Broken Apart, Mended Together – The Money Pit

After their relationship almost fell apart with their house renovation, Walter (Tom Hanks) and Anna (Shelley Long) found each other again and at their new home, they had the wedding of their dreams. What I really love about this scene was all the people who attended. All of the clients that Walter’s father screwed over never held it against Walter and they helped him celebrate his special day. Plus, Anna’s ex-husband finally let her go and even orchestrated the kick-a** music for the occasion. It was a funny scene but it was all very sweet and a fantastic way to end the film!

A Bleak Affair – Addams Family Values

As Fester (Christopher Lloyd) married the Black Widow, Debbie (Joan Cusack), his family threw on the perfect Addams wedding for them with Cousin Itt officiating. This was the best kind of wedding for this bunch, a night wedding where people dressed as if they were attending a funeral instead. The fact that Debbie didn’t even try to hide her disdain for Fester was hilarious. He poured his heart out in his vows and she just hit him back with a “ditto”. But she had Fester wrapped around her finger, so she could let the curtains down at that point. The best part was when she threw the bouquet and when Wednesday (Christina Ricci) caught it, she acted like it was a bad thing. Then her relative called her a tramp… people take wedding traditions VERY seriously, apparently.

What Is Love? – A Night At The Roxbury

Knowing he didn’t love his fiance, Emily (Molly Shannon), Steve (Will Ferrell) felt an immense amount of pressure from everyone to go through with the wedding. There are so many hilarious moments in these scene: from Steve hitting on Emily’s bridesmaid, to Emily snapping down the aisle at everyone, to Steve’s brother, Doug (Chris Kattan) blasting their favorite song and interrupting the ceremony. My favorite part, though, is how Emily treated the whole thing like a business merger and Steve’s best man, Craig (Lochlyn Munro) knew that and expressed his love for Emily immediately after Steve left. I love that everyone got a happy ending, even Craig and Emily.

Lucky! – Napoleon Dynamite

After falling in love in an online chat room, Kip (Aaron Ruell) and Lafawnduh (Shondrella Avery) finally met up and had the wedding of their dreams. I’m so happy that they decided to film this scene at the last second because it was all just gold. From Kip’s special song, to Lafawnduh’s family’s reactions to her saying “I do”, it was all so hilarious. Having Napoleon (Jon Heder) ride in on a horse for them was so perfectly random and very in-tune with the rest of the film. If you’ve never seen this scene before, you gotta wait until after the movie credits! It took me a LONG time to realize there was an after-credit wedding scene. It’s such a great send-off to a film about nothing.

Betelgeuse Park – Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

After Lydia (Winona Ryder) signed Betelgeuse’s (Michael Keaton) contract to save her daughter’s soul, Betelgeuse thought he would finally have the woman of his dreams. He crashed the wedding she was SUPPOSED to have, informed her of her fiancé’s true intentions, and sucked their influencer audience into their phones. This is one of the best beautifully dark wedding scenes. I love that Betelgeuse turned the whole thing into a music video, making everyone around them sing and dance, it’s super catchy and entertaining! Then everybody started crashing the party, including the Afterlife Police Force, his ex-wife Delores (Monica Bellucci), and a big old sandworm. There’s certainly no wedding like a Betelgeuse wedding!
