I’m back with another installment of rating horror movie characters with the same name! I usually let a wheel decide which letter to go with, but a couple of them fell through this time. When it finally landed on one I can work with, A, I chose to go with the name Alan for this round. As usual, I’m rating the characters themselves, NOT the actors who played them or their performances. I hope you enjoy and let me know your favorite horror movie Alan!! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)

Allen Chamberlain – The Mummy (1999)

My Rating: 2/10

Allen Chamberlain (Jonathan Hyde) was an Egyptologist who joined many others on the search for the lost city of Hamunaptra. While their, they all accidentally resurrected a very powerful and dangerous mummy, who now needed them for his master plan. This guy was just a sexist p***k, I didn’t like him at all. He was so full of himself and he always acted like he was the smartest guy in the room. I do give him a couple of points because he wasn’t as bad as some of the other Alans in this article, and he did have some funny moments.

Allen – Saw VI

My Rating: 10/10

Allen (Shawn Ahmed) was a file clerk in a major insurance company, whose head, William Easton (Peter Outerbridge) created a system that basically determined if a person was even worth covering. Allen and his colleague, Addy (Janelle Hutchison) were placed in a trap where William was forced to choose which one would live. I felt so bad for this guy, he was one of Jigsaw’s victims that really didn’t deserve to be there. He didn’t create the system and he wasn’t the one enforcing it. His biggest crime was that he didn’t have anyone who would miss him. He didn’t seem like a horrible person, he didn’t have to die just because he was a loner.

Alan Russell – Oculus

My Rating: 4/10

Alan Russell (Rory Cochrane) was a husband and father who was starting a new business in a new house. After purchasing a large mirror for his office, their perfect lives quickly turned into a fight for survival and their sanity as the mirror proved to be haunted and extremely dangerous. Now, every horrid thing that Alan did was under the mirror’s possession. I do have to give him some points because before he was turned into a monster, he was a good father and a good husband. However, it’s only a few points because he still did those horrid things. He tortured and killed his wife and he almost killed his 2 kids.

Alan Marchand – Apartment 7A

Alan Marchand (Jim Sturgess) was the director of one of the most highly anticipated Broadway shows in New York. He was also part of a Satanic cult that targeted a young dancer, Terry (Julia Garner), with the goal to impregnate her with the son of Satan. This guy was pure scum. He took advantage of someone who just wanted to dance in his show, then he acted like she wanted it. I usually give a villain a couple of points for charm, but not for someone like this! He was just a man with power who took advantage of innocent people for selfish and evil needs.

Dr. Alan Hill – Until Dawn

After the town of Glore Valley became buried and stuck in a death time loop, psychiatrist Dr. Alan Hill (Peter Stormare) saw an opportunity to experiment on those trapped and affected in the town. This guy was just evil. He saw how much people suffered over and over again and instead of helping them, he recorded their suffering as they slowly transformed into vicious Wendigos. He was a sadist with a complete lack of empathy. He has no redeeming factors and he deserved to be trapped in the town.
