Welcome back to Behind The Scenes Saturday!! Today, I wanted to talk about one of my favorite M. Night Shyamalan movies, Glass! Although this film divided audiences, I found it to be a fitting conclusion to an amazing trilogy. So, stay away from the water, grab your green poncho, and enjoy these fun pictures and bits of trivia!!

(SPOILER ALERT!!!)

- When talking about working with James McAvoy (Kevin Wendell Crumb), Samuel L. Jackson (Elijah Price) stated, “As good as I like to think I am or what I do and how I do it, watching somebody transform characters in front of your eyes and have an argument with four different people is pretty amazing.”
- The film’s director, M. Night Shyamalan was able to incorporate unseen footage from Unbreakable, featuring younger David (Bruce Willis) and Joseph (Spencer Treat Clark) for this film’s flashback scenes.

- Although Disney owned the rights to Unbreakable, M. Night Shyamalan successfully acquired the rights to all potential sequels so Disney couldn’t make one without him. He mortgaged his house to co-finance this film.
- When discussing the importance of the color schemes in this movie, M. Night Shyamalan stated, “I chose green for David Dunn because psychologically, it is associated with life giving properties. David is the protector of life. I chose ochre or mustard for The Beast because this color is associated with religious ceremonies, Hindu and Buddhist. A monk’s robe. I see The Beast as an evangelist, a preacher who wants to help save ‘The Broken.’ Finally, I chose purple for Mr. Glass because this color has been associated with royalty, majestic qualities. Elijah sees himself as important, a main character of comics.”

- The original runtime of the film was about 3 hours and 30 minutes. M. Night Shyamalan had to cut down quite a bit, including cutting 3 of Kevin’s 23 personalities out of the film.
- Kevin was actually supposed to be included in Unbreakable as an emerging villain for David to face later on. However, M. Night Shyamalan couldn’t make it work at the time. So, Kevin was given his own introduction in Split years later.

- James McAvoy based one of Kevin’s 23 personalities on his Atonement co-star, Saoirse Ronan.
- Although Charlayne Woodard plays Elijah’s mother, she is actually 5 years younger than Samuel L. Jackson.

- Sarah Paulson didn’t even read the script before she accepted the role of Dr. Ellie Staple, because she wanted the opportunity to work with M. Night Shyamalan.
- In Unbreakable, David bumped into a woman holding her son’s hand and he had a vision of her abusing her son. Fans have speculated that the abused boy was Kevin.
- When Mrs. Price, Casey (Anya Taylor-Joy), and Joseph are sitting together at the end of the film, they’re wearing the same colors that match their hero/villain. Casey wears a yellow top (The Horde), Mrs. Price is wearing purple (Mr. Glass), and Joseph is wearing green (The Overseer).
