My Favorite Horror Movie Moments – Part 6

Welcome to Day 9 of Spooky Season!! Today is all about those moments in horror movies that were unforgettable to me. I’m sharing part 6 of my favorite horror movie moments! These are some of the moments from my favorite horror movies that affected me the most. I hope you enjoy and let me know your favorite horror movie moments!! (SPOILER ALERT!!!)

Private Justice – Silver Bullet

The small town of Tarker’s Mills was a peaceful and uneventful place for a long time. However, bodies started to pile up as a werewolf began terrorizing and slaughtering anyone it could find. A curfew was placed for the town, but a young boy, Brady (Joe Wright) broke it and the werewolf got him. Deciding that the authorities weren’t doing enough, Andy Fairton (Bill Smitrovich) gathered a group of people in order to take matters into their own hands. They were stopped by the sheriff and told all about “private justice”. Then Brady’s father, Herb (Kent Broadhurst) stepped in, and gave his own grief-stricken speech. He then challenged the sheriff to dig up his son’s corpse and explain to him all about “private justice”. It was truly an unforgettable confrontation for me.

Freddy’s Flashbacks – Freddy vs. Jason

As Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) reminisced about his life and his afterlife, we’re treated with flashbacks that featured the best of his worst. Freddy vs. Jason was my introduction to Freddy Krueger. I didn’t see ANY of the Elm Street films before it. The flashback of course confused me as I didn’t know any of these characters or events beforehand. As I was re-watching all the Elm Street films for my next Freddy article, I really found new appreciation for it. It was a well edited, all the best moments that showed Freddy’s vicious handiwork.

Giving Sam His Comic – Lost Boys: The Thirst

Edgar Frog (Corey Feldman) was a struggling vampire hunter just trying to make ends meet. Not having a lot of options, he decided to sell his old comics. He didn’t get much luck at the local shop, but when they tried to get him to part with a copy of Batman #14, he refused. The comic had too much sentimental value for him. After his best friend, Sam (Corey Haim) was turned into a vampire, Edgar was forced to kill him. At his grave, Edgar remembered the first time that they met, where Sam was looking for a Batman #14. Edgar then left the comic for him. It was a great connection to the first film, and it was a great way to say goodbye to Corey Haim, who passed away shortly before.

Olga’s Deadly Dance – Suspiria (2018)

Her whole life, Susie (Dakota Johnson) dreamed of attending one of the greatest dance academies in Berlin under the wing of Madam Blanc (Tilda Swinton), and she finally achieved that dream. After one of their students, Patricia (Chloë Grace Moretz) disappeared, her friend, Olga (Elena Fokina) accused all of the teachers of being witches and being the cause of her disappearance. Olga stormed out of the studio and intended to leave that place for good. The witches ended up messing with her eyesight and leading her into the mirror room, where she was trapped. As Susie auditioned for a complicated dance number, Madam Blanc hexed her hands and feet, making her control Olga’s movements. With every swing, kick, and hand movement, Susie threw Olga all over the room, breaking all of her bones. This scene was so agonizing and so well done. You can almost feel everything that Olga does, and that’s what makes it so impactful. And the fact that it didn’t even kill her made it so much more horrific!

Turning The Tables – MaXXXine

Maxine Minx (Mia Goth) was an adult film star struggling to break into major studio film roles. If that’s not bad enough, it was during a time where the Night Stalker crept the L.A. streets. As she walked the dark streets, she was followed by a strange man, Buster (Zachary Mooren). Believing he had his next victim, he walked towards her with a blade, not realizing she was carrying something much more intimidating. Once she pointed her gun at him, the tables suddenly turned. She then forced him to strip and lie down before stomping on his testicles hard enough to pop them. This was such a great moment, she forced this predator to do things he probably made women do before. I just love the kind of exact justice where horrible people feel what they made others feel. It really showed that, once again, Maxine Minx isn’t someone to be messed with.
